Notice that last letter in the URL is an 'A'? For America. Change that to E... for PARTS of the EU. Namely the UK.
J is for Japan. Too bad if you live outside the continental USA+Alaska, the UK (I haven't tested for Scotland and Wales nor N. Ireland, so I'm just making the assumption) and Japan (didn't test for Okinawa).
So... WHY?
Right now, if you have bought the NA version... live in the UK... your Lodestone sends you to the 'A' version and you get an error when you try to install (region lock... for a cut-down database... of the same game). Got to use the E version if you're in the UK.
So what if you bought the JP version, currently living in the UK...
Really SE? What next... you can ONLY use a CC that's registered with a bank that's HQ'ed in the host country that matches your game version?

I have a dumb phone.
We finally got 3 g where I live about 4 months ago.
I have thought about an unlocked smartphone for when I am in something resembling civilization but haven't done that yet.
Why would I want that ap if I did have a smartphone? I look stuff to play when I am at my PC.

If the screen resolution/size of your phone/tablet is ok, why not? The thing is... there are stuff like CK's and more. So unless you have just a PS3 and a dumbphone, there are better alternatives out there. CK's version comes to mine, or FFXIVDB's. The rest of us have to use proxies, turn off the phone's geo-locate and other stuff. Why have multiple 'english' versions... that are region locked?
