FFXI graphics

Okay a month after my birthday I finally get my present and have my computer upgraded.

Unfortunately I needed to reinstall Windows due to the upgrade and therefore FFXI aswell, which took the better part of last evening.

After waking up around 3:15am I find all the updates have been installed so I setup the game to use maximum resolution and all highest settings (I think) and log in to see what it's like (before was on a GeForce 5600 FX).

Game looks great to say the least but there's no outlined names or that cool looking cursor/pointer, which I've seen from some of your screenies and I'm sure it could look better.

So my question to you kitties with awesome setups is how do you get this? There some settings I've missed or something?

I think they use third-party add-ons and DAT swaps for that.

Google or DogPile should yield some results if you check there.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/PlayOnlineEU/FinalFantasyXI

On 0000, change the value to 4 in hexidecimal.
On 0003, change the value to 400 (800 if your computer is uber) in hexidecimal.
Do the same for 0004 as you did for 0003.

This changes your MIP mapping to 4 (improved smooth) which is the 0000.

0003 and 0004 change your resolution, 400 changes it to 1024 and 800 is 2048.

EDIT: To access this, go to run from your start button and click run then type in regedit and hit return.

I found the dat swaps for the system stuff and changed 0000 to 4 (the other two were already at 400).

It looks so sweet I wanna play just for the cool graphics

I've seen a lot of screencaps that have custom fonts but I think the default font still looks the best.

Yeah it doesn't come across very well. No resizing was done, that's the resolution that the screenies were saved as. Also the before was saved as a gif so the quality is a bit degraded.

Rest assured there is quite a difference in actual game, biggest being the smoothness and higher resolution.

Digital Vibrance?

Go into your nvidia control panel, under 3D or colour or something there will be a digital vibrance thing. Makes FFXI look cool.

My setup is: 46% brightness 31% digital vibrance 41% contrast 4% image sharpening and 9% gamma. Works for me but I fiddle a lot.
