For those of you that plan on going to okinawa

Post by Blackroses »

Well im here in Okinawa and id like to say a few things about it.

First and foremost, If you are a heavy gamer and cannot speak a lick of japaneese OR enjoy playing games in complete japaneese, you will hate Okinawa with a passion. They get games that are super ancient, or super corny. I mean come on. Ive never even heard of Hello Kitty for the gamecube. FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! Do you honestly think a marine is going to play hello kitty?

If you enjoy Japaneese dished/seafood, here is a awesome place to get some of the best seafood in the world. Honestly some of thier dishes smoke the exact same ones in the states.

Driving in okinawa? yeah right. unless your some rich dude and have 50,000 dollars to spend on a drivers license, get used to the public bus, and im telling you sometimes the funk is ungodly

Bet your thinking that okinawa has wonderful weather right? A tropical paradise with sunny skies and palm trees right? WRONG. Its either Scrotching hot (unless you live on the east coast and your used to the weather) or freezing your mithran toosh cold. occasionaly you get nice warm weather, but its so shifty that you really dont get to enjoy it much. One minute its sunny and like 20 mins later it raining without mercy. Not to mention from the months of August - January is typhoon season.

Japaneese culture is okay here. but your honesly find Okinawa more americainized that how the standard thought of them living in wooden huts etc etc. The majority of okinawians do speak a LITTLE bit of english. So you wont be completely lost.

All in all id say Okinawa is fun for most, depending on what you enjoy. If you love to go fishing/diving/surfing etc, you will love many of Okinawa's beaches. Me personally, Id rather be in Iwakuni near mainland Tokyo  Im sorry, its just much better than this rock in the middle of the ocean...erk.. i mean island 8)

We have Hello Kitty for the GameCube in the states.

Honestly, outside of Resident Evil not much on the GameCube is grown-up oriented.

When they cut you loose, if you land in Seattle try OUR seafood.

American, Japanese, Chinese, Jewish style lox, whatever.

Japanese tourists RAVE about our sushi. New Yorkers gasp in extacy over our lox. A Chineese mom from Hong Kong, after eating at one of our Chinese seafood resturants, admited that her daughter just might be able to eat in this heathen land.

You see we are the major entry point for Alaskan fish to the lower 48. Most of the fish from Alaska are shipped by Seattle based firms no mater where they eventualy land. Most of the global companies who factor Pacific fish have an office here if this is not their home port. End result? Fresher fish.

Fresher fish and a city full of great eateries. Inventive chefs with a tradition of trying to outdo the other guy.

Check us out.

I have a feeling I'd prefer Tokyo or Kyoto to Okinawa. There's a decent amount of English speakers in each, plus the Otaku capitol of the world is in Tokyo.

I've been to both, by the way.

I like seafood, raw or cooked, and I am quite proud of Seattle's.
