Farscape!!
SG1 can hardly be called an orignal series as it is a movie spinoff. I find it boring and as predictable as Star Trek, which at least is not boring.
Futurama and Tripping the Rift are wonderfully original and hillarious.
Star Wars was Mind blowingly spectular when it first came out. First time I sat straight through two showings in YEARS was oppening night of Star Wars (no episode number), last time too. Ummmm.... I have yet to see Episode 3 though.
A prize will be given to anyone who can name the FIRST TV SF series. Hint, early 1950s. Before the transistor was even invented. Yes we DID have TV way back in the neolithic era.

I grew up loving sci-fi/fantasy and Star Wars and Star Trek were my favs then. lol I could go on for hours about Star Wars...I know I shocked my 6th grade reading teacher when I did a book report on the just released Heir to the Empire By Timothy Zahn.
Star Trek was the family weekly sci-fi addiction fix...man we loved that show. I can remember my father cursing the tv screen during the Season Finale when Picard was captured by the Borg; Riker ordering "Fire" and the screen going TO BE CONTINUED. Mama was pissed at him for teaching us some new words for days....
After Star Trek went off, my addicted family switched their attention to Babylon 5~ kinda disappointed no one else posted about this show...it was great and remains a classic.
After living thru my Star Wars/Star Trek/Babylon 5 phases and experiencing life some I have to say my absolute favorites are:
Farscape- the show was simply amazing. The creativity and thought that went behind the show, the characters and the simple joy of watching them is great. I didn't get into Farscape until watching it on AFN in Korea when I was stationed there for 3yrs and I was not happy to realize when I returned to the States in May 2003 that I'd not only missed the final season but also skipped an entire season and had to wait for it to be released on DVD.
IMHO ppl don't really give the Jim Henson Co. enough credit...they made a kick ass show that wasn't a spin-off from a movie and was cancelled. While a less impressive show that shall remain nameless was kept on and even has a spin-off of its own now
Doctor Who: This used to be the only show I'd be allowed to stay up all night watching on PBS...I did say my family was addicted didn't I?
Like Farscape the show is/was simply amazing. I'm currently building my Dr. Who DVD collection since PBS is no longer airing it where I am. Its simply shameful that many of the early episodes have been lost due to being badly stored.
Just my 2gil^^ and no offense to any Stargate fans out there...I just don't care for the show. And yes I've watched it, my husband is a fan. I've had to live thru many many hours of stargate. Hours that could have been better spent cleaning the grout in the bathroom IMO.

Farscape is the bestest ever especially the mini series!!! I love all the pop culture and the saddest moment in the mini was when Harvey "died"....
I voted for SG-1, but I actually like Atlantis better, Rodney McKay is the best charachter on the Sg franchise to date, I love the chewing out he got from Weir on the last episode..
Weir: You Destroyed 3/4 of a solar system!!!
McKay: It was more like 5/6th of a solar system!!
Weir: Would you put your ego to rest for a moment!!!
Also fromt he time he had to share his body and he called his fellow scientist "Dr. Fumbles McStupid" was very hillarious!!! McKay seems to be like a critial fan of the show watchign from the inside and that is what makes him so great!!!

I've never heard of Tripping the Rift, but you don't have Firefly, Babylon 5, or Battlestar Galactica? For shame!
