Monitor Splodey

You are so not going to believe what happened to me earlier today.

My monitor exploded.

No, really. My monitor EXPLODED.

I was playing FF XI and was in the middle of raising someone, when all of a sudden, I hear this POP!! FZZZZZZ...and SMOKE starts billowing forth from the back of my my monitor. I see sparks. I logout, kindly telling the person I'm raising that my monitor is on fire, and fan the sparks with the little beanie baby lynx I have (well, HAD) sitting on top of my monitor. I then proceeded to fall back on my bed laughing my ass off as plumes of smoke erupted from the back of my monitor after the tube blew out.

I was able to shut off my computer, and then made an emergency run to CompUSA to buy a very nice $300 flat screen Envision monitor with lots of bells and whistles and a 2 year automatic replacement guarantee.

Needless to say, the tech guy I was speaking with at CompUSA thought it was hilarious that my monitor had went splodey. But as he told me, it could have been worse; the screen could have cracked and fell out when it went splodey.

So...yeah. Uh. My monitor caught fire and exploded and died this morning. /cry

This is almost as bad as last night when I burned water and set off the fire alarm in my apartment. Now /that/ takes talent.

Sarah, you are a goddess among us. Good tyo hear you weren't hurt in the splosion, the guy was right how it could have been worse.

Oh God. It was hilarious. And I never realized just what a POS my monitor was until I got this one. Now I can actually see the dust storms and leaves during wind storms in La Theine. It's like seeing Vana'diel through completely new eyes!

My friend Peg (she plays an elf named Celestiahne on Siren server) told me that it must have been one HELL of a Raise spell to blow up my monitor. ~XD

But now with this flat screen -- I didn't know Valkurm had dust storms!! I could hear the wind and stuff there, but I never saw the actual dust on my old monitor! And I never realized that there was moss on the stones just outside the gates to San d'Oria, or that there are actual LEAVES that you can see blowing around in La Theine when it's windy -- oh! And I can see raindrops now!!!

It's so exciting! I was on the phone with Peg last night squealing with glee because I could see the raindrops. I was like, "OH MY GOD!! I CAN SEE RAINDROPS!!! EEEEEE EEEE EEE EEEEEEE!!"
