Find out your hometown was the start of the Civil Rights movement.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sylvia_Men ... estminster

I saw Mendez v. Westminster School District in my history book yesterday, and being as interested as I was, I decided to put more research into it.

Holy crap.

I'm talking about our fifteenth president. The bachellor president, James Buchannan.

In his defence tho, he was smart enough to not want the position, but ran anyway... which wasn't smart.

My Hometown City isn't even really important according to Wiki. Though because of the fairly big mall we have that almost straddles I-64 which leads to St. Louis, it is the most economically important city in my county. >.> Which is something I suppose.

My country does have some claim to fame, I'd think. The oldest county in my state. We've even got a fort or two still in good shape along the river from when the French first came down the Mississippi and claimed pretty much everything.

Also, we have Scott AFB which is home to the following. "United States Transportation Command, Headquarters Air Mobility Command and the Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization. The 375th Airlift Wing is also host to more than 30 tenant units, including the Air Force Communications Agency; the Air Force Office of Special Investigations 3rd Field Investigations Region; and Air Force Reserve wing; and an Air National Guard unit."

Fiye still tops me I think.
In the end, I'm just talking out of my ass. So take it all with a grain of salt.

Just looked up info about my own small hometown called Amsterdam

There's pretty much info on there, also links to our not so pretty history of piracy and the likes. >.>;

I don't know really. I'm going to send the link to my A.V.I.D. teacher back there.

Congratulations... to two WHS Seniors, Amelia Nguyen and Diep Vuong who were among 12 Orange County students to receive Bill and Melinda Gates Scholarships—a TEN YEAR COMPLETE FINANCIAL AID SCHOLARSHIP—given to 1000 students nationally each year.

There was only school in Orange County who had two recipients - Anaheim High School, and only one other school in the District with a single Gates scholarship winner.

O,o;;;; First it was that Senior from my Freshman year who ends up going to Harvard, and now this!

My home town, Hemel Hempstead the coolest place on Earth!

Think Hemel only has two claims to fame, firstly it was used as a filming location in a Nicole Kidman film called "Birthday Girl" (as well as St. Albans) and finally the big oil explosion at Bunsfield, which is on wikipedia. That was a fun day

Taken from my window :D

Edit: Oh I completely forgot about the Magic Roundabout. Roundabouts probably a foreign concept to you yanks but it isn't actually a round about anyways, just a small ring round with a lot of mini-roundabouts on it

In America we call Roundabouts Traffic Circles, and we have many, especially in Washington DC. I have NEVER seen anything like that magic roundabout. Ever. Not even close.

My hometown is Hewlett N.Y. It was named after a Revolutionary War general. A British general. Four pages into Google (Hewlett without Packard) gives me no home page for the town, nor the general himself (Hewlett + general without Packard).

My hometown was the boyhood home of Eugene O'Neill and a major whaling port in the 1800's. Parts of it were also burned by Benedict Arnold during the Revolutionary War: New London, Connecticut.
