What Boredom and No FFXI gets you....
What Boredom and No FFXI gets you....
Here i am, sitting at work, and bored to tears and all i can think about is... How long before an evil mind in science figures out how to make and/or genetically engineer a real life Mithra!!
Ok here are some of the things needed to pull this off. And being into science it kinda scares me how close we could be to actually acheiving this.
1. An Understanding of how the "HOX" genes work, these are the genes that control development in an embryo and control what cells become your bain cells and what cells become cells in your fingers and toes. These genes act as a switch board. Suprisingly during the developmental stage of most vertabrates all embroyes look pretty much the same, it is by activating of these genes that turns something into either an aligator or a cow.
OR
2. The ability to model an adult animal based on DNA input and the reverse extrapolation of a physical changes back to DNA source. (Basically you would load a physical model for a human and then "tweak it" to Mithra specs and the system would give you back what DNA code would be needed) The cool thing about this is that you could build all the FFXI races using this tool cause the only limit would be your imagination and physical laws of science.
OR
3. Just take a human Brain and figure out how to keep it alive and happy in a jar and then place that brain in a jar inside of a android body that happens to be built like a mithran.
OR
4. Play FFXI some more and don't worry about it!!!

That is a scary thought process to a rather large extent. And I can't decide if that makes me happy...or scares me...cuz damnit, I'd be a mithra. Or Manthra...or...hell, I dunno, I'd probably just be happy to be a Mithra, lol. Talk about hazards at work for a lot of people though, getting your tail caught in something would have to huuuurt!!!

4. body modifaction or bio sculpting.
We grow cartlage or bone on scafolds, we culture skin. Cosmetic ears would be doable. Sculpted muscels and the nerves to use them will take a bit yet, as will learing to make the skin grow fur. Not to mention how to use the tail once it is wired in.
There is talk of using engeenered virusses to plant a gene in a subject that he would then express. Fur anyone?
Not Science Fiction anymore.

Nah, just down the pants leg or under the skirt. Thank goddess those hobble skirts of the late 50s and early 60s are no longer in vogue. hardly room for thighs in those, let alone a tail.Baketsu wrote:You would have to wear around your waist like a belt if you didn't want your tail damaged!!!
