I've only made it to level 18 myself.
I believe the first two levels, I made distilled water out of tahrongi cacti. All you need to do is sign up for the quest in Windurst Waters where the taru wants you to get a tahrongi cactus for him and head for Tahrongi Canyon. Don't forget to bring the lightning crystals
But I just plunked myself down and extracted a free cactus after another. Considering the price of distilled water versus the crystals, though, it's cheaper just to buy the water, normally.
I moved on to making antidotes after that till level 3.
Then it was off to make Tsurara. The ingedients were very cheap, so it didn't hurt when I sold it all off to an NPC
I think I did this until level 5.
Then I made Deodorizers. The ingedients for this were also cheap (olive oil from an NPC is virtually free). These were also sold to an NPC since I doubt anyone would buy them. I think I stopped at level 9.
After doing the exam, I got ambitious and made Mercury out of cobalt jellyfish. At level 9, I needed to use advanced synthesis support, and face the right direction on lightningday for this to even work. I lost money, but it wasn't too bad since Mercury is a valuable commodity. There was always a lot of jellyfish for sale too. I did this until level 14.
After that, I started making echo drops. You won't lose to much money making these since ingredients are cheap and these items are always in demand by mages and ninja.
Now at level 18, I'm preparing to make Silent Oils (using the more expensive, but lower level, slime oil recipe). I've been farming and harvesting in Giddeus to prepare for this. I can HQ beeswax with beehive chips from the Digger Wasps, and I can buy slime oil stacks in exchange for harvested mugwort.

My Hume THF got from 18 to 21 on desynthing Goblin Masks with Lightning for Glass Fiber.
She tried the Slime Oil + beeswax = silent oil synth to advance further, should work, level cap 24, great sucess in synthing, no skillups at all. Likewise with Blinding Potion x2, Level cap 28, Lightning Crystal + Nebimonite + Mercury. About 30 - 40 synths since she ladt saw a skillup.
Try Posion Dust, Lightning crystal + 2 Giant stingers, level cap 11, or 2 Yellow Globe, level cap 12 then the jellyfish which caps at 16.
Bee Spatha, level cap 14, Water crystal + Spatha + 2 Beeswax.
Poison Potion, Level cap 18, Water crystal + Poison Dust + Mercury.

keep in mind i dont have a comp of my own an when im here id rather play games an post on the boards here than look up a game tip site especially Allahkazam or w/e... they dont display any lvl 0 synths they just have -- which ALSO means N/A meaning 0 is NOT suitable for synthing that particular item... at least it was like that when i looked tryin to find a lvl0 synth i could use my Glacier crystal for... which i still have btw

Moblin Masks also desynth into Glass fiber, and at a somewhat higher level cap than Goblin Masks.

The best place to skillup on Tsuara is in Sandoria
In south sandy head past west gate and into the grocery store
the elvaan in the store will sell the rock salt and the water you need to synth Tsuara
If you sell the tsuara you synth back to him, you usually break pretty even with just an investment in crystals:)
Towards the mid 20's I believe, I synthed cobalt jelly fish and yellow globes, for the ingredients to synth poison potions.
I've gotten alchemy to 41, and just noticed I hit the cap for prism powders >< Doh.

i'm too depressed/determined/desperate/etc for an Emperor Hairpin...
i cant camp VE due to the lack of patience to wait hours on end (not that i could claim it with no voke type skills with the bots there) and the price is only getting higher... i checked a few days ago it was 990k last i checked its 1.1mil... i dont wanna humor gilsellers and botters tho... but thats inevitable unless som1 really important/charismatic/etc announces to evry1 that they should stop buying Emperor Hairpins among other NM drops gilsellers and botters go after and the ppl do just that... like thatll happen...
anyway i'm trying my hardest to get gil for an Emp Pin... i dont have the nerve to just shout beg... and i no i shouldnt do that... nothin in my bazaar sells... ive had my Mist Silk Cape for sale for some time now in there... i recently sold a pair of Garrison Gloves for 160k at Jeuno AH...
