First of all, I've
enrolled Sasuske here.
Ok, so what you want to do is get a screenshot of your pose in the model viewer. The viewer is supposed to have the capability to capture the model view somehow, but I've just been using Paint Shop Pro to capture the FFXI Model Viewer window. You'll need to have your background color set to a color that is not found on your character or its equipment, the more contrast the better. I usually use magenta (255, 0, 255). Another thing you could do is use the Print Screen button to capture your entire desktop, but of course, make sure you can see the model viewer.
You'll need an image editing program, like Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop... there are others that are freeware that I don't really know about. Anyway, you'll want to use a selection tool that's most commonly depicted as a magic wand. What it does is selects pixels which are the same color as the one underneath the magic wand cursor brush. You can also set a tolerance to allow for bleeding, but in this case, you don't want any colors that are not your background color to be selected, so tolerance should be 0.
When you select all of the magenta areas (make sure to look over your character for holes where the background color shows though, but is not connected to the selection area... use Shift+click to add those areas to the selection), what you'll want to do is Inverse Selection. This is the same as if you had originally selected your character and
nothing else. So now you can copy the selected region (your character) and paste it onto a background without having any of the background color (magenta) on the character copy.
That's pretty much how you do it... scaling your character a little will essentially antialias the edges, or you can blur them if you like, to avoid jagged edges. Just remember not to make signatures too large... other people post here too, and everyone has different screen resolutions! Have fun!
