Besieged Adjustments (02/20/2007)

In the upcoming version update, we plan to make further adjustments to Besieged, including a level increase to the beastman armies, the addition of new temporary items, and new combat abilities for the Serpent Generals.

Beastman Army Level Increase

In addition to the maximum value for enemy forces being increased to 170, level 7 units comprised of new monster types will be introduced for each beastman army.
Be sure to participate in Besieged to discover what deadly new opponents threaten the Imperial capital!



New Temporary Items

To coincide with the threat of powerful new enemies, the variety of temporary items distributed at the beginning of every Besieged will also be expanded.
These new items will have an offensive focus, and their availability will depend on which NPCs have been taken captive and the overall condition of the Imperial defense.

Serpent General Abilities

The Serpent Generals will each receive unique new combat abilities to use during Besieged.

Tougher Besieged eh? We ALMOST lost oh Phoenix Server yesterday. All generals were dead and the main Boss NM wasnt showing any signs of even coming close to dying. Then without warning, they warp away like scared little puppies.

I was wondering what the heck would take 10 hours & before I saw the ban stuff on POL... though I don't know that they need a maint. to ban accounts anyway... My other guess was to get the servers ready for the version update? *shrug*

I can confirm it. Valefor saw TWO besiege yesterday back to back. Needless to say, both were Level6.

Either Level7 will be a rare occurrence, so we'll see what happens with the next update.

The long update time is a personnel problem. The HR dept. just can't go through the applications for all the new Besieged positions in any less time.

And have you ever tried to decipher a Troll's handwriting? Not to mention the problem of interviewing a Lamana with Charm.

The Besieged update is in March though... this maint probably has nothing to do with it.

My friend expects it's prep work for the update, but if the prep work takes 10 hours then how long will the real thing take? 15? 20? 24???

The Maintanence the other day was actually for replacing a good portion of the POL network hardware (second time in 2 years I think). That's why it took 10 hours, the servers themselves were in pieces.

As for the update, yeah, it's scheduled for early March, and as of right now, (I thought this too) there is no lvl 7 besieged. Nonetheless, I'd love to see someone like Cerberus or Hydra crash the party in Al Zahbi one of these days^^

Ok, gripe time. Anyone else in a besiged just...look at the Mega Boss and walk away? I mean, seriously. Medusa and Gulool Ja Ja especially. Pinning Shot and some other damn thing, Medusa > You. Gulool has a bad AoE, but what's worse is his plague. Something like 11 hp and tp lost per tic, which means my only way of getting damage(Wheeling Thrust) has been nerfed, essentially. Not to mention the Nin NM Mamool runs around Groundburst/Mijin Gakure-ing everying. (Third Eye blocked Mijin Gakure I think. Everyone around me sucked up 4k damage and I was still standing, even Soleil was down. Go-go /Sam.)

The only Mega Boss I'll engage is the Troll one, Gurfurlur the Menacing. If I get some more Atk gear and eat some bream(not gonna waste Sole on Besiged), I can do some good damage against that guy, not to mention Soleil always gets through mobs high ass Def. Popping a 200-400 Wheeling Thrust just puts a smile on my face....right as I'm super jumping before he can Haymaker me into the nearest wall.

Troll Besiegeds are definetly my favorite.

I got tired of dying to NIN Mamool blowing themselves up right next too me without warning because of all the lag.

The undead one- Someone always engages the stupid skeletons which AoE Drain spamaga and the lamia are just annoying to fight. If its not getting stripped nekkid every couple of minutes, its being charmed- ugh, {No, Thanks}

Well Wyverns actually ignore defense, the only problem is keeping them alive for long enough. Azure seems to randomly die before I can use the Drachenese or whatever and Wheeling Thrust also ignores (some) defense making it a pretty good WS to use in Besieged.

I just don't bother with Lamia #14, you can't do sh*t when you keep getting stripped and Medusa? Forget that, can't even hit for higher than 0 with my WAR71. Not really any point trying the NMs if you're not 75.

Bream? Pfft I'm not going to waste any money on Besieged, Aggressor + Hasso gives me quite an Acc boost and I have a buttload of Acc in gear too (and still miss like a bitch).

Lately I've become adept at not dying, and for some reason I have a truckload of bream that's been sitting in my MH for months. Wonder of wonders it hasn't gone bad.
