We have had the flying cars since 1949.

Search Aero Car, maybe Moult Taylor, I think that is the name of the inventor.

And we have had robot lawnmowers for about a decade.

We have flying cars, but they're about as effective as putting steam engines on Jets.

we also have robot vacuum cleaners (roomba) and mops (scooba)

the roomba and scooba are bothe made by iRobot

You know I meant practical innovations. We have robot's to do that, but their complexity is currently offsetting their value.

We did that in the '50s as well. At least on paper.

Nuclear powered steam turbines, but still steam..... Around the world without refeuling? Heck YEARS without refeuling.

"Atoms for Peace" was the name of the program. It looked at many peaceful uses for nuke power. They did build at least one nuke powered freighter, I wonder what became of it.

Taylor's Aerocar towed its wings and tail to the airstrip and was ready to fly in 10 mins. I can think of several 4 seat aircraft of the era that got worse milage and flew slower.
