Hello,

I have an in-person interview with Yoshi-P this weekend. Anyone have any questions I can consider taking to the table? Now's your chance. :)

Yes, I will meet him personally on Saturday for an interview. I need questions before Wednesday night, so I can get them to the SE team for pre-translation work.

Can CE 1.x accounts get the pre-order bonuses for CE 2.x? For free?

Gobbue mounts!

No Goobbue mount, coerul mount. But otherwise yes, we are supposed to.

Goobbue mount was a L 30 quest late in 1.xx.

DAMN Misti, how did you do that?

How long till they seriously think about adding RDM, RNG, and the stealth class that should branch to THF and NIN? Not when will they be coming, but when will development have the time to start looking into these?

Will upcoming expansions increase the level cap, or will they take on a mentality similar to FFXI with introducing new jobs and different kinds of gear to grab.

Also, will there be the possibility of a mission series that'll borrow from the difficulty of Chains of Promathia. Level caps to allow newer players to play with old in challenging and difficult battles?

Also, will there be super bosses ala Absolute Virtue and Pandemonium Warden to look forward to.

Mission series events/encounters already do the level cap dance as in FFXI but with WoTG, they allowed your gear to level sync so you didn't need to keep level 40 gear for PM 6-4.

In FFXIV, all the level cap stuff feature level sync. No need to keep level specific gear, yay.

Ooh, I like some of these. I will likely take Tsybil's question and change it, ie: Has the development team had time to consider beyond simply launching the game?

Some of the more specific questions might get returned with 'no comment' so I try to keep them more vague so I can get an answer, and then if I like what I hear, I can usually sneak in a follow-up or something.

As for how I got this, I'm a [mostly retired] professional gaming journalist. My Square/SE interview repertoire includes Sakaguchi, Amano, Uematsu, Tanaka, and now Yoshi. The latest coming to PAX 2013, so I poked around and got an interview.

CE editions from 1.0 get 2.0 CE items. I already have mine.

I find this a very good question as well.
I hope they can give a good answer to this because for me it is one of the make or break points.

A question from me:

- When developing content for future updates, on what level of content will you focus primarily?
CE editions from 1.0 get 2.0 CE items. I already have mine.
Good to know they haven't forgotten us, back then I spent about twice what the CE costs these days.

"We’ve already begun work on the first update that is currently called patch 2.1 and will introduce a large-scale housing system, as well as “The Wolves’ Den” — the first ever PvP content in the series. Furthermore, the update will include new dungeons, a new daily quest system, new Primal battles, extensions to the main story, and loads of other new content to enjoy," -- Naoki Yoshida

I must admit I am not aware of any developments nor gameplay, I have not participated in any of the betas so my knowledge of the game is extremely limited.
Above quote however only answers part of my question.

What's happening in 14 is kind of unique, the game launches with a good amount of players that have already achieved the highest level but as it is a restart many people will also be starting anew.
I am pretty sure that for now, there's plenty to do for all levels in the game, but will the direction of the future updates be? At least for the next year maybe 2.

Will they be creating more content for the more casual lowbe players as well as content for the higher level players or will they work towards motivating people to attain high levels as fast as possible?

It looks like the servers are slowly starting to accept players again, I've decided to reactivate so I did so last night and downloaded the client.
This morning I could choose several NA/EU servers again where I could only choose JP servers last night.
I went to one of the JP servers to get a feel of the gameplay, I will be recreating on Sarg and Excalibur (RL friends playing there) if I can tonight.
They're working hard to make the game accessible again as fast as possible, but I don't blame them, it's not the first MMO where this happened and FFXIV has been given a lot of publicity lately so people are curious.

And it appears that my first XIV char still exists, but I hardly achieved anything on it so I guess I'll delete it as it's also on a world where I'll be a lonely kitten.

I'm on Sarg with my Mithra turned Taru. Actually enjoying myself with this surprisingly.

Just sad I haven't seen any kitties yet.

I have been in on occasion, but silent.

That's ok, let me hijack it then.

-----

It can be difficult to post stuff about FF14, their EULA basically says "say nice stuff, don't make money in any way, thank you and bye bye".

Another question I was going to ask was if they would change one tiny bit of it... well they did.

"You may not use the Materials for any sales or commercial use, meaning you cannot receive license fees or advertising revenue, except as part of the partner programs operated by YouTube.com, Twitch.tv, Ustream.tv, or similar programs. If the operator of a partner program seeks to confirm our policy, please point them to this page as we do not have the resources to respond to all requests."

I'm asking them if they will also extend this to 'other media'. In the past, if you put a guide about FF14 on your blog, and perhaps a picture of two.. screenshot of a map/etc. You could get DCMA'ed. At least putting your crap on You Tube is now ok, even if you make money off hits.

Every player not being able to log in should be presented with one of these by SE. BUT... only if they are a cataru.

I don't know if you had your interview yet, but a question just popped up in my head.

Back in 2009 I accidentally walked into the Square Enix HQ in Shinjuku while looking for their Shinra store.
When I was there me and my group were invited to look around in the reception on the 12th floor, back then there hung a collosal map of Vana'diel on the wall.

Now the question, is that map still on there or have they replaced it with a map of Hydaelyn?

Wouldn't it be of Eorzea? :P

Eorzea is just the continent, Hydaelyn is the world on which Eorzea lies. :)

To be fair, all we have of the world map is Eozrea. Which I believe is the two land masses. (Lima's island, and everything else.)

Blah, I'm already excited to see what more exists of the world.

The map also shows a piece of the Garlean Empire to the Northeast.

But we also know that for example the Hyur and Miqo'te aren't native to Eorzea either.
(But we've never gotten to see the Mithra homeland of Gha Naboh, and the continent of Olzhirya either so...)

We got ours this weekend for a furcon laster this month. Batteries come in today, so we'll let you know how much we love them. :)

Also, will be posting the mp3 of the interview soon. Was gonna do this last weekend before I got sick.
