I got stitches D:

Last Wednesday, after 28 years, I finally joined the "exclusive" stitches club and got 4 of them in my arm (after having it cut open). Is it ironic the first time I have stitches is because of a mole?
Around Christmas I noticed a mole not looking like it usually does, saw a doctor who said it's most likely nothing but best go see the dermatologist. Month or so later I saw the dermatologist (mole is now back to normal) who also said it was most likely nothing but recommended get it cut out and have a biopsy just to make sure it's nothing.
First time I've both had stitches and been under the scalpel

It looks pretty gross, stitches come out Monday.
I also had my root canal redone the previous month so fingers crossed that worked and don't need the tooth being pulled.

I'm pretty sure I lost count of my stitches by the time I was seven. ^^

Do stitches for having your wisdom teeth removed count?
Except for that, those are the only stitches I've managed to get.

I sew, does that count?
Honestly surgeons use the same needles as letharcrafters. Same stitches too. I watched a doctor sew up a cut on my hand once. Told him if he ever wanted to sew skins that didn't need a local he had a great future as a leathersmith.
Usually I avoid looking at anything medical like that but when I saw the needle I just HAD to watch.

Heh. Yea, I don't like watching needles going into my skin.
First time I had stitches was at my little brother's kindergarten physical; I was... hrm... eight? Anyway, we were leaving the office, and in my hurry I turned around and ran straight into the corner of the door. Hard enough to knock myself out.
Had to get a couple of stitches, right in my eyebrow. Still have a scar there, too, can't usually see it but every once in a while when I get carried away with the eyebrow plucking it pops out. >.>

Yeah I'm not a fan of needles, I'll look away when I get injections and I certainly wasn't watching when I got my arm cut open and stitched up. Didn't even look at the nurse removing the stitches either

So leatherworkers use curved needles then? Surgical stitches are also sanitised and some of them dissolve over time
Ironic you got injured at your brother's physical

Were you a very excitable child? Head must be one of the worst places to have stitches, my brother got stitches in his head and don't think they could give him a local so that was very painful for him.

Sometimes, and sometimes surgeons use straight ones. But all of our needles, and Sailmaker's too, have cutting edges.
I didn't have any curved three edge that small, but I still have straight three edge that size today. Somewhere.

Just my luck, the wound opened this morning

Trip down to the nurse then probably another to the hospital later *sigh*
The good news is it's just superficial so no need for more stitches or anything (ATM), the bad news is the scar will be bigger now

I've got the mother of all scabs on my arm, it's pretty gross. The good news is my mole was benign (nine and a half).
