Actually the start button literally exploded. I can either plunk down the cash to fix the start button or put together a new one. Considering that the only parts I need for a new computer are a Processor Mobo and compatable memory, I chose to just put together a new one. Either way, there are other things at the moment that require my financial attention, so no computer for me.

Windfall.

My father offered to loan me the money to buy the parts I needed and I took him up on the offer. Baring faulty parts I should be back in-game this weekend.

Well I didn't bungle the job.

Computer is back up and most of my files are reinstalled, and holy hell is my computer fast now. I don't know why I hadn't upgraded sooner.

I have always two excuses for not upgrading.

Money and inertia.

Always fun, computer upgrades.
Especially when I compare my benchmarks with that of a similar system.
No I do not OC, my components are a little bit too prrrrecioussss for that.
However I did my system upgrade pretty recently too, but that's something I do every 2 years myself aside from minor component changes here and there.
But then again, when I upgrade I make sure I can get a decent price for my old components when I sell those off.
Computers are an expensive hobby though.

Tell me about it, we need to upgrade our PC soonish and my fav laptop needs a new motherboard /sigh
Its even worse when you're actually in the IT profession and a class A scrounger. My husband's PC room looks like a cross between a magna library and an IT grave/junk yard.

you should see my bedroom. 4 switch controllers, 2 50amp Power Supplies, Train Engineer Reciever hooked into the track, 2 accessory recievers all plugged into the desktop PC USB Hub which has dual video cards. Even more, my desk right now is covered in styrene parts and modeling Glue. No I'm not sniffing it before you start. but I've got a buttload of old PC Parts here I need to sell off on ebay.

My bedroom is kind of what Phe describes.
When I enter my room, on the left there's 2 closets for my clothes, right side my bed, behind my bed there's a dressoir with my laptop on it, then there's my chair and my desk with my PC and screens.
Then on the left side behind the closets there's my TV and game consoles, games, dvds, books and manga.
In between all that stuff I have a path of about 1m20 to move through.
On the closets there's a ton of PC stuff like spare mainboards, graphics cards and PSUs.
I need to sell that stuff some day or throw it out. >_>

Lucky, I have track all over the place, If I don't store my equipment in the closet I tend to trip in the middle of the night.
