Oh Microsoft, you tease!

Well I arrived home today to find a white box from Texas waiting for me which means only one thing: My 360's back! Yay!

Nay.

Well, it is back but its missing its power brick, which I was told to send in. Finding this odd that I'd get my console back minus the device that powers it I called Microsoft. Since their automated directory lacks a "You forgot to send me a vital component, you $%*#@!!!" option I had to do my best to work my way through the system to get to an operator.

Third time (as in third call) was the charm and I got to speak to a human who told me that its now policy to return the unit and power brick separately.

:?  Pretty much sums up my reaction.

When I asked when said power brick would arrive he said three to seven days after the console and hung up.

So there my 360 sits, between my TV and DVD player, just as useless as it was when I hit the power button 28 days ago and was greeted by three flashing red lights.

Oh, and for those who are wondering why I don't just go out and buy a new power brick I want you to know I called GameStop and asked them how much they are. The girl on the phone said $100. I clarified that I wanted the large green brick-shaped item with two wires coming out and she said "I know what it is and its $100." I explained that I wanted to clarify because I found it hard to believe that its $100 for just that. She said "I don't know what to say." My thoughts exactly.

So many law suits are hanging on microsoft's head because of the poor customer service, and "Shady" business they conduct with the xbox 360. If microsoft ends up being found guilty on these lawsuits, well, I don't want to think about it really.

If it means they'll shape up, get better customer service, and make better products I say bring them on.

No! Keavy, don't go down that path! It only ends with you being emotionally insecure.

Today is day seven and it looks like my 360's power brick is MIA.

Time to go super bitchy and give Microsoft an earful.

Latest update on the Xbox 360 power brick fiasco.

My angry e-mail was responded to 24 minutes after it was sent with some automated bullshit about how I should call the 1-800 number. Included in said bullshit was yet ANOTHER GODDAMN REFERENCE NUMBER with instructions to give said reference number to operator who answered my call.

I did as I was told and after reconfirming my identity and address I explained my situation (yet again) and the response was "Well, you were only supposed to send the console" to which I replied "Well why was I told to send in the power brick with the console and why did the box arrive with a spot for said power brick and very explicit instructions on how to place said power brick into the box?" The response to that was "One minute please" and I was put on hold.

The agent returned and asked if this was my first repair. I pointed out this was my fourth, put on hold again, given yet another goddamn reference number and was hung up on.

So now, hopefully, I have a goddamn power supply coming.

Excuse my French but I'm pissed. Why in the hell has it taken me over a week to get something I should have had in the first place???

Microsoft Tech Support: Please Bend over, drop your pants, hold your wallet and butt cheeks open and we'll give you a "Power Brick."

Speaking of which, I need to beat the smeg out of them for not accepting my xbox live gold subscription number.

I still have my very first "Free" month of XBL Gold I got with my first repaired system. The code was inactive and here it is, almost ten months later and they still haven't added that month to my account.

I thought I'd join in on the microsoft tease! After reinstalling windows, I resetup media center and went to install the media center extender for my 360. I go to the dashboard and in the media section I clicked on the windows media center button like the instructions said to. I did this originally a few months ago and it read media center on the router, and gave me my 8 digit setup code. Not this time, magically "Failed to read media center pc." I call tech support, tell them I followed everything correctly, and I get "Well then there's nothing we can do." ya ya my arse. Excuse me while I beat my 360's brain out.

I just got off the phone with Microsoft Customer Support and it looks like I'll be 360-less for another two weeks at least.

If I don't receive it by then I'm supposed to call back.

At least they're not like Apple Customer Support. If they're no longer manufacturing whatever it is you're calling about their "advice" is to pick up a new one.

Like when I called about the blown capacitors on my iMac (Which was covered under a recall) and the guy told me to just buy a new one.

Not to mention keeping me from leveling RDM, BLU, and SCH. Oh, and can't forget all those games I have that I can't play.

Well I had to backup _EVERYTHING_ onto my gaming pc rig profiles system data etc, then literally "blow up" the firmware on the hdd and start over. Magically, there was my 8 digit code (after I recovered my data back via usb cable, and thankfully my achievments are still there). Media Center backup and running.

Also a sidenote I left out about my tech support call, they tried to "sell" me a warrenty on my refurbished system. Yet Microsoft _NEVER_ warrenties refurbished systems, at least that's what my cousin says their microsoft rep tells them at gamecrazy. (Unlike microsuck, if something goes wrong, GameCrazy will replace my system no questions asked + Warrenty extensions on a yearly basis).

I need to get my friend who has a digital camera over here so he can snap pics of this bad boy.

Oh, I did the math on this setup and for the Mac, Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Speakers, DVI Cable, and taxes it cost me $1000.

I replaced my keyboard because old one was grungy, swapped out my single-button hunk of plastic mouse for an ergonomic two-button mouse with four-way scroll wheel (How I lived so long without that thing I'll never know) and the speakers, the monitor has crappy built-in audio and you have to be on top of the Mac to hear its tiny little speaker.

All in all, I am very pleased with my new setup. Just need to get my damn power brick here and it'll be perfect.
