Well now, Wings of the Goddess ships on the 20th of November (4 days before my birthday, yay! ^^), and is live on the 22nd.

On top of that, we get what we've been asking for so much.... Dancer class!

Please, no Galkas in tutus.

So I'm assuming Xbox 360 users, like me, dump 2400 points on XBLM November 20th for the game?

Then...we get a message with our activation code? F***ing Microsoft. Just let them offer us a disc, you bastards!!!

Personally I'd take Galkas in tutus over all the striptease /emote macros that are going to erupt from a Dancer job...the community isn't mature enough not to do that.

But very nice nonetheless. Maybe now people will believe me when I keep telling them it's released in November not after Christmas.

I have to wonder though. I've found a couple of NPCs that seem to have no purpose other than to explain that they are the leaders of the regional defense forces around the home cities, and frankly the last thing we really need are more pointless NPCs that just talk to us. Gimme a quest at least, or sign me up for the Saruta defense forces so I have something to do with my severely depleated time. Maybe SE tossed a little something in ahead of time for us to get excited about it? Or will they have a real purpose when the expansion comes out?

Hehe...who knows, they might serve a purpose, they might, those new NPCs. I personally don't mind NPCs who do nothing but talk to me since they're usually involved in one quest or another at some point in time, and besides, EVERY RPG has useless characters to talk to at some point in time.

As to new Besiegeds...idk...it might happen.

As to strip dance emotes...oy....yeah, I didn't think about that. I'll be happy just to get a freaking /dance emote tho (assuming we DO get one, which I would assume we would...come on).

Hate to burst your bubble, but rumor is Dancer is female only.

There's supposed to be a male only class announced soon that will be the 20th job.

Makes no sense to me because from the beginning FFXI was "All races/alliances/geners all jobs" unlike the other MMO's.

Wasn't there a male/female job restriction in FF Tactics?
Tho... I think female was dancer and male was bard..?
I haven't touched that game in years so I could be wrong.

Actually, I was a bit surprised- a few of the irl guys on my shell are really interested in taking DCR up if it truly is a support job and they have male characters in game. Hume fortunately- I'm still kinda leery of the thought of Galkas dancing...

Okay, watching that trailer, I got a question...am I the only one seeing what looks like it might be a new weaponskill or two? And it's looking good I think about dancer. ^^

EDIT: Just a side-note, the Wings of the Goddess website has been updated as well (http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/altana/index.html), and has a few pictures of the Dancer job in what looks to be it's Artifact Armor, tho they're showing nothing but the Hume Female outfit so far.

EDIT the Second: Okay, just got done watching the newest trailer on the WotG site, and OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dancer is a new dagger based class from the looks of it (tho with SE, we never know, since they almost ALWAYS have PLDs in videos with Great Swords), but it is NOT the only new job. There's no clues other than that the site says "New jobs", in spite of Dancer being the only one listed so far. And I was right, it looks like there's going to be new WSs available, because I saw several in the video that look NOTHING like anything we currently have.

Two good tidbits for you:

First off, in the trailer I clearly saw Male Dancers so its not gender restricted and second...MS is letting developers release disc-based expansion packs for their games.

Wow, this looks fairly epic. SE has been bitten by the Nostalgia Bug, which almost never fails to impress. Especially since the Crystal War has been speculated to hell and back by the player base.

Now, we get to not only see it, but experience it. Question though. Is that young boy Louverance or Trion?

The outfit kinda reminds me of a costume I had to wear when I did ballet... We were doing a spanish-style number. Perhaps thats where some of the inspiration comes from for what I'm presuming is AF?
Personally it reminds me of elements (Flamenco-ish almost) from Spanish & Mexican dance costumes.





Regardless, I've said ever since the Dancer job rumor mill began, I'll totally take that to 75!!! I'm excited for this new expansion now!
Though I am not excited about waiting in line for whatever quests unlock dancer. Maybe I'll wait until my Samurai is done to pick it up

Yes, I too will be leveling Dancer after I finish meriting WHM and get RDM leveled. May also level Bard first, too.

Anyways, somewhere in there Dancer will be leveled because it looks cool. I've pretty much given up on melee and resigned myself to the belief that I am meant to be a Mage.

However I will still try my hand at Paladin.

The last image is of a PLD with that coeurl looking kitty off to the side in the foreground isn't it?

Good point on the possible Spanish influence on Dancer Tianshii, it wasn't my first thought (80s music video comment) but the actual vid of the dancer in action certainly does seem a bit Flamenco-y in places.

I'm looking forward to the expansion, but whether I do more than unlock the new jobs depends on how good they are as subs for RDM and how well I like them on the way to 37

Flash back to FFV, will you? Atomos was a minion of a greater evil. He was a gateway to hell/oblivion. Evi's prediction, Atomos will be the foe of WotG come eat us at our weakest moment (Crystal War) so as to destroy our future? Maybe that is why we are time traveling.

Also, I think Dancer was in FFV too? My brother tells me they were, so I got into a discussion with him. Halfway through I was talking about oddities we find in FFXI that we have no idea why SE put them in. One of the things I mention is a later dagger WS called Dancing Edge which has a large secondary modifier of Chr.

My brother looks suprised and then tells me something. He says that Dancing Edge is the name of a move in FFV that Dancers use.

Dancers use Dancing Edge in FFV. FFXI has a Dagger move called Dancing Edge with a Chr mod. Dancers have high Chr in FFV. Dancers appear to use Daggers in FFXI. Also, the second best weapon for Puppetmasters in FFXI is Dagger, and Pup also has a high Chr.

Weird, huh?

Oh yeah, prediction 2. Dancers will be a combat support role, like bard, but melee. Kinda like how Blu seem to be a combat Rdm.

360 info: I saw on the Gamestop website that the 360 users can buy the disk. There is also going to be an '08 collection coming out like the '07 one.
