The smiley turned 25 today.

on a related note, I discovered that many on the web are now too young to know the keyboard smileys.
Elsewhere on the web I am in a groups thing which uses a solely text based message board. Many there are as young as 13. We have "smiley help" there. Its formated like this:
First the pictorial smiley,
, then its text equivalent*, then the written out description, Smiling Smiley.
Many of the posters using the smiley help will cut and paste the written out description, and not use the classic text based one at all.
*Which I cannot even post here as our pictorial ones will override it.
