The End.

Well in 3 days I leave Okinawa Japan for good. Get to go back home to California for at least 1 year, and then I can either get out of the Marine Corps, or re-enlist. But that's not what this post is about. You see on Okinawa other than travelling and getting drunk, there was abosolutely nothing to do. So I bought FF11 and never stopped playing ever since. But now that Im heading back home, I wonder is it even worth playing the game anymore. Yeah I got my ultimate goal of getting lvl 75, but what does that matter in RL. Not a thing. Other than Keavy, Tethysyx, Midgetking (He jumped servers), Obito, Maleficus and Mamoan, I really don't have any other friends on Phoenix that I talk to regularly. But once I change time zones, ill hardly see them online anyways. Sadly out of two years of playing ive made 0 accomplishments game wise other than lvling up a crapload of jobs. Still Windurst rank 7, only on ZM5, and im still on Sheltering Doubt for CoP. So... I think that as of August 25th (The day I fly back to the states) I may quit FFXI. It was fun, and a good long run, but for once I think I need to spend more time in the real world, vice the game one.

Well, I've only got one way to put this.

RL > FFXI

Plain and simple as that. For someone like myself, for whom "RL" consists of coming home and playing video games anyway...well, FFXI isn't really all that bad, lol. But for someone with a more active lifestyle, I would suggest doing something else I figure. Tho it always depends...it's possible to balance the two out. Either way, I just hope you succeed at whatever you try to accomplish. ^^

FFXI is the Hotel California. You can check out any time you like but you can never leave.

:lol: :oops: :lol:

It's true, though. Get a decent slow end-game shell or dynamis shell. Then just log on once or a couple times a week for events. I played FFXI like that for YEARS after I hit level cap. It's so much more fun when you know exactly what you're going to log in to do. BTW "LFG" doesn't count as something to do. ^~

There are some rabid die hard end-shells; they're the ones everyone talks about and all the newbie 75s apply to in droves. Then there are the few quiet slow ones that have been around forever. I'm sure your server has some, too. Find, join, have fun, and keep your RL.

You can play and stay in touch without loosing any RL.

Uh, unless you get sucked into the leadership side of the shell. That's happening to me right now, but I'm working on subtly letting others take over a few events so I can kick back again. FFXI is agro to RL. ; ;

Keavy, that is my favorite quote about ffxi. LOL BTW, find me for a pearl.
