Bringing The Sexy to EQ

So...EQ is what I am playing at the moment. FFXI is still on the table pending how certain things pan out.
In the interim, yea EQ kitties suck..enough said. So since This is what I am forced to play at the moment I figured I would bring a bit of Style to EQ, Tivia style.

I take no credit for the kitty, of course I wish I could draw like that. I simply put the layers together and did all the Photoshop for the pretty effects to make it look good.
Anyhow yes I am bored right now..

Nice pic! Didn't know EQ-1 was still going, but I guess MMORPGs never die, they just slowly fade away. ^^

Some do die, but EQ I will be here a looooong time.
Nice pic Tivia, you don't really look like that in EQ do you?

I got a free copy of EQ and three free months of play back in 2003. I was totally lost and couldn't figure anything out and couldn't understand what anyone was saying so I quit.
I later found out about sites that have guides and stuff. I feel kinda dumb now.
Then again, if I had gotten into EQ I probably never would have played FFXI which most agree would be a good thing.

To my knowledge only one retail MMORPG has died.
Asheron's Call 2. On December 31st, 2004 the servers were killed.

There was also a NFS style MMO that died due to lack of interest.

Star Bores dead yet?
And Vanguard, just 3 months old, is having a server merger.
Auto Assault already had one, but seems to be holding steady now.

No, but there's an Emulator server that is up. It runs pre-CU and TGE

Expect that. When a game comes out, usually the people who manage them buy more servers than is needed, and wait awhile before adding or merging.
Since the 'New-ness' of the game wore off, and some people have left, they've had to reserve resources and merge servers. Which they're likely to do since it lessens up the amount of money they spend on server management.

Auto Assault... eh... I had my chance in the closed beta. I don't like it myself. Its just... tough in some spots, to easy in others, and not something I like. But... I wish I'd liked it better.
To be honest though. Planetside is the best idea for an MMO. 100% FPS PvP combat with hundreds of players. Now... if only Sony hired their current developer sooner, and funded it properly.
Edit: Oh yes. In response to the EQ and EQ2 cat race. FFXI's will always remain the best. Anthros FTL.
And... well. Can't say much. I don't harbor any hate or liking to EQ. Just alot of frustration.
But, from what I've noticed. You got to have a.) A good gathering place for the server/faction and b.) An LF(Whatever the first letter for whatever name you give for "Party" Whether it be Group, Team, Troupe, Party, or Squad.)
Though... if Flyff I see alot of people doing the whole "BUFF PLZ!11!1!!" thing. Gets annoying when you're a lowbie assist.

Afraid I do not really look like that, hence the post title.
EQ's cat race is lousy.

The first MMO I started playing lasted 2 years or so, not sure. I played it a year before it was discontinued. Good ole 'Earth and Beyond'. It was started by a small company and did really well. EA bought it, continued it for a while, then decided to end it in favor of The Sims Online....fucking retards...
I loved E&B, it was awesome and had a good plot line. EA nearly lost all my business forever for ax-ing it. However, once E&B stopped, I picked up FFXI. That was 3 years ago....hmm...If I had to chose between E&B or FFXI, not sure which I'd pick...

I actually played Nexus: Kingdom of the Winds and Dark Ages (not DAoC) before switching to EQ (accidentally on a PvP server, which drove me insane) then switching to FFXI, then Adding WoW, then adding Horizons, then dropping Horizons, then dropping WoW, added everything run by GPotato, Shot Online (mmo golf anyone), GoonZu, Maple Story, Guild Wars, Trickster Online, Tantra, Tales of Pirates, and a crap load of other games i cant even remember now....
But it all started with first getting introduced to GunBound International server run by Softlynx back in.. oh.. prolly mid to late '99. And Diablo... and Diablo 2...

Vanguard is only going to have four (4!) servers after their merger. Soooo many people told them exactly what was wrong and how to fix it during beta, but they just ignored everyone and plowed ahead. When you have a game that only 5% of the market can even run and so many bugs that even die hard fans are grumbling and whimpering, you really should open your eyes a bit and rethink things.
Too bad really -- VG is a beautiful game with a lot of potential that likely won't ever be realized due to extremely bad marketing decisions.

I know every single community came to the table and offered up a plethora of fantastic idea's through beta and the early stages of the game to turn it into a game that everyone would love. Sure it would be hard to break into the market from the perspective of the hardware requirements, but a GOOD game will make people upgrade, a mediochre game will not.
My disappointment with Vanguard is it is the only MMO on the market with just an insane amount of potential as far as both the Casual gaming and hard raiding spheres. It was just cripped by bad decision after bad decision.
