I want to powerlevel up a Red Mage to about level67 and have it available so I can use it to my advantages.... but I need to ask.

Can anyone write up a summary of what I should do at least up to level40.

Takes 5 minutes of searching to find those. Don't ask any questions there, you'll get flamed 'cause they'll be answers for them in the stickies.

Ask a general question and get a general answer. If you have anything specific, we might be able to help. But other then that, those links posted above shall serve you well.

At the risk of sounding obvious, your first, and main job in parties is Enfeebling.

Unless you are the main healer you should fire off the standard enfeebling spells first thing. After that you can Cure, Melee, pick your nose, whatever.

If a mage takes hate, the RDM should Cure them, not the WHM.

Once you get Regen, use it. Regen the tank and the puller. Regen anybody who takes a hit. Best bargin in HPs/MPs out there.

Once you get Haste, use it on your tank. Only. Unless you want to either slow the party down or watch a melee die.

Your most desired stats are MND and INT. In your 20s you can use one Astral if you like. Two are a waste. Dia 9 MPs, Regen 15 MPs, then you change rings for Slow, Paralyze, Gravity, & Blind.

Sweet Rice Cakes are the best RDM food for a loooong time. Unless you are Elvaan or Galka. Mellon Pies +1 for Elvaan to boost INT, Pumpkin or Rolanberry +1 for Galka for raw MPs.

Tell me when you get Convert and we will talk about the falicy of Convert Ratios and maximizing Convert.

I always did Convert with Elemental Seal + Drain, got me a nice bit of HP back whilst doing a bit of damage at the same time.

Of course if you're /WHM then it's Divine Seal + Cure, obviously doing this at the start of a fight will get you hate and probably killed.

Even when I am /WHM I use the same Convert Cure Macro. Cure IV, /wait, Cure III. I convert in battle way too often for the DS Cure IV trick. Besides 1/2 the time I am planing on a DS Curaga II in the near future.

I'm the same way, I prefer to save my DS for a Curaga I/II.

As others of suggested, definetly check out the suggested stickies- the one on Alla and FFXIclopedia are very comprehensive and detailed.

Another good food (especially if you're doing a lot of healing or have a bit of mnd deficiency) is Mushroom stew and it gives a nice MP boost (40 MP+, MND +4). Its my favorite food for merit parties since most of the enfeebles I do use tend to be MND based.

Interesteing.

I just did Divine Might and got a Suppaomimi (There were no good WHM rings, so I got what would be best for my RDM).

Lets just say I did two things. Pissed off my LS leader (She doesn't want anyone to talk about it). And I beat it in record time as a WHM68/32

Gimped sub FTW!

Oh right, I forgot you guys are curing whores now

Well pre-70 when you're not and if you're on /WHM, that's always an option :P

Although... mushroom stew.

I gotta buy myself a few stacks of that...

Lemee see.. 9k... not stackable... but lasts three hours.
So, I'm paying 3k/hr for +40 MP and +4 MND. sounds like a fair deal. Cosnidering I can make that back pretty damn fast.

Try this, 11K on Garuda, 3 hour.

Brain Stew
Dexterity +5
Intelligence +5
Mind +5
HP Regeneration While Healing +3
MP Regeneration While Healing +3

HQ:

Sophic Stew
Dexterity +6
Intelligence +6
Mind +6
HP Regeneration While Healing +3
MP Regeneration While Healing +3

No MPs but I think stats are far more important.

Brain stew is an excellent option too and if I was doing more of the pre-ToAU type duties in merit parties or was more active in end game I'd seriously consider it myself.

I like Mushroom stew for the mnd boost and the mp- especially since the +40MP brings me within 5 of a 1:1 Convert ratio when I sub /whm

Oh and another option- ginger/wizard cookies. hMP is one of the most valuable stats for mages when/if they have the time to take a knee. Can't beat the price either- 11g each I think it is from the npc.

I used melon pies, can't get enough of that lovely INT

You could not eat anything and people wouldn't give a monkey's right testical.

Great trick for the cookie RDM;

Bretzel

MP +8% (Cap: 55@687 Base MP)
Vitality +2

A 5 min snack food. Take that convert ratio junkies.

I am a Convert junkie, I admit it, but I try to stay away from foods that just give an MP Boost unless its under very specific situations.

My reasoning goes like this- RDMs make use of all the mage stats to a greater or lesser degree, so it only makes sense to try and use the food that provides me the most benefit for what I'm doing at that time.

I used Sweet Rice cakes almost exclusively from 55-70, then switched over to cookies when it became more and more difficult to steal the time to take a knee in parties. The more hMP I can take advantage of in a quick paced party the more MP I can recover while resting.

If I'm main healing- yea, I'll probably go for Mushroom Stew since it does bring my Convert ratio to nearly a perfect 1:1 (when subbing /whm) and for the MND boost.
