Well yesterday I finally Beat Maat as a lvl 70 RDM. Heres how it went down.
Took off all non MP gaining gear that gave me INT. Meds I had was 2 Hi-Ethers, 1 Super Ether, 1 X-potion, Melon Pie +1, 3 Yagudo Drink and 1 Vile Elixir + 1. I also went in on Windsday.
Traded in Red Mage Testimony and entered the Battle Chamber.
Ran in and used gear Macro to get back all my INT gear, making my INT a total of +16.
Cast Sleep II. Maat was now asleep.
Used Yagudo Drink and Melon Pie +1, Cast Stoneskin, and Blink.
Cast Bind which Stuck, and Aero III. Maat took 353 dmg.
Cast Sleep II. Maat was now asleep.
Used Hi Ether and waiting to recover 30 mp naturally.
Cast Aero III. Maat took 340+ dmg.
Cast Sleep II, got resisted. Maat killed two shadows.
Cast Sleep I, got resisted. Maat hit me for 8 dmg.
Cast bind. Maat was bound in place.
Used Yagudo Drink and Hi-ether. (Maat for some reason didnt cast magic)
Cast Sleep II, which Stuck.
Cast Bind. Maat was bound in place.
Cast Aero III. Maat took 339 damage.
Cast Sleep II. which Stuck.
Cast Bind. Cast Aero III. Doing 350 dmg.
Maat woke up and said: Well I'm all warmed up now.
Maat activated Chainspell.
Cast Sleep II which stuck.
Waiting 30 seconds. Maat was at 40% HP.
used Super Ether and Convert, and the X potion, bringing my HP and MP to full.
/pointed, /laughed at Maat.
Activated Chainspell. Hit him with 4 Aero III's.
The fight wasn't hard at all, it was just luck on my side for once. This was my 10th Try. The first 3 were me Joking around, but the last 7 I actually took seriously. From what I have put together is:
1. On Darksday, Sleep lasts a bit longer, but seems to get resisted just as bad.
2. Going inside without your INT gear seriously helps your enfeebles to stick.
3. Running up to Maat without buffing up, helps very very much.
4. When Maat reaches 50% or less he uses Chainspell.
5. If Maat does not physically hit you, he cannot use Asuran Fist.
6. If you don't go in confident you can win, you tend to make careless mistakes.
I hope this info helps out those of you RDM's getting ready to fight him. As for me, I'm rushing to lvl 75. It's about time.

Big congrats^^
Not to take away from your well deserved kudos, but I had a few comments
~~ I've never seen a convincing test that showed that Maat copies our stats when we enter the b. circle, so in my opinion its at best a placebo effect.
~~the Prime Avatars will 2-hr at around the 45-50% mark too interestingly enough. Makes it alot easier to deal with when you're expecting it^^
~~ What do you mean with #6? Might just be me, but the way you worded it seems confusing. Did you mean "If you don't go in confident, you can't win and you'll tend to make careless mistakes" or "if you don't go in confident, you can win but you'll tend to make careless mistakes" ?

I mean if your nervous and not thinking straight it can make it THAT much harder. But of course you can still win.
And maybe your right about the Copy stats thing, but Its just every time I went in to fight Maat, I alternated with gear on and gear off. First time was with all my Gear on and my Sleep's always got resisted with my Gear on. Of course this could all be sheer luck, and like you said there is no sure-fire test to prove this.

Grats~ but lack of INT won't help Sleep stick considering Sleep and Sleep II are dark based black magic spells, INT only increases the effects.

PH is using methodology based on the theory that Maat copies your stats when you either give him the testimony or enter the BC. He said he macroed in the INT gear inside.

Thank you Tsybil. I hate repeating myself.

It's okay Keavy, all you missed was my spamming like a noob in all caps saying " I KILLED MAAT, I KILLED MAAT." for 2 hours. j/k

Congrats PH!!!!
But no5 is wrong, he doesn't need to hit you to use asuran fists..my friend went in, he used asuran fists on her, there was a pause and he asuran fisted her again. >_>a

It's pretty correct in a way what PH sais here, if you can stay out of range..
(IE land Gravity, Bind, sleep, etc.)
He won't be able to land a single hit on you, let alone Asuran Fists.
However Maat cheats in a way, as he can somehow use Asuran fists without gaining TP and even chainspell Asuran fists if you get in range of his melee attacks.

Oh well that's still rubbish; magic defense is MND not INT. If you thought he mimiced your stats (he doesn't) then you'd go in with MND- gear

Riiiiiight. Yeah, id love to walk up in there and increase my magic defense while Maat has his way pounding me with Asuran Fist ( a Pysical Attack) and then laughing at me, as my Nukes do little to no damage. Thanks for the offer, but Ill have to pass.

What he meant is if Maat imitates your stats then go in with crappy gear that lowers the stats YOU want lowered on Maat then when in the circle change to the good gear and let him have it.
I think the whole thing is BS personally.

Actually, the "only MND is for m.def" theory is about 3-4 years old and it's not how things work. What really happens is that INT-based spells all use INT for defense and MND-based spells all use MND. IIRC, the original tests were from parses from a BLM. He parsed damage results from a couple of tests: no debuffs, Burn debuff (lowers target's INT), and Shock (lowers target's MND). Burn was the clear winner. Shock did nothing at all. Other folks took up the testing from there to validate the new theory "int for int, mnd for mnd".
This is why a lot of RDM raised up MND to truly astronomical levels. Yup, MND. Why? For the Slow debuff. It turns out that if you get enough MND, regular old Slow-I will actually eventually become stronger than Hojo:Ni. Not only will it slow things down more, but RDM can finally get revenge on all those NINs and make them see "Hojo: Ni has no effect on the critter."
I recall reading about this about 2 years ago. I think it was on BG forums, but it was a while ago. It was a very interesting read at the time.
