Today marks 2 full years Completed in the Marine Corps for me. *Cheer* only 2 more years and I can go back to the peaceful civilian life.

Sadly I still have 9 months left here on Okinawa. Hopefully I can get my orders changed and do a lat move into a different MOS. And leave Okinawa FOREVER. I don't want any souviniers of this place or anything to remind me of here.

I know the feeling~ I felt the same way about Korea when we finally left.

What MOS are you currently and which one do you want to try and change too?

In case your curious, I was a 98C in the Army, a SIGINT analyst and my husband was and is a PC geek.

Well at least you got to go overseas. My whole four years in the Army was spent in Fort Bragg: The officially recognized armpit of the universe...

Current MOS is 0151 which is an Administrative Clerk. Im trying to Lat move into 8152 which is Marine Security Guard or MSG for short. Much better than staying in my office and dealing with bossy officers and NCO's every day on a island I don't like.

PCS= Permanent Change of Station, being ordered to a new duty station.

MOS= Military Occupational Specialty. The alphanumeric code is an identifier for your job. Admin specialist in the Army was known as a 71L when I was in, think they've redesignated them since.

SIGINT analyst= Signals Intelligence Analyst and that's all I can say about it

Long ago when I was in high-school, I was invited to visit West Point for a couple weeks to try and tempt me into attending. During the initial tour, the guide pointed at the parking lot and said something to the effect of "Upper classmen are permited POVs". Hmmm. OK, I'll bite. "Uh, what's a POV?" He didn't even blink, "Personally-Owned-Vehicle." It took me a bit to catch on. "You mean you have an acronymn for CAR!?"
