You know what, out of this whole time ive been playing FFXI I really havent lvled up a Melee job. I was always some type of mage. I mean just look at what I have been missing:

This video inspires me to try out the melee class. So what if they cant use magic, that doesnt mean they are weak, or not as strong as a mage.

One word: Paladin

Yes weapon skills are very tastey, obviously a bit of dat swapping since RDM can't do half of those WS >.< (Red Lotus Blade, Seraph Blade, Vorpal Blade all need /WAR or /DRK and Swift Blade can never be obtained) also the relic WS can't be used outside of Dynamis I think (unless have buttloads of merits but that wouldn't make it available for a B class skill methinks).

Damn we make WS look so sexy; I had seen Ground Strike before but done by a hume, so much sexier by a Mithra The final Scythe ones look cool
My personal favourites: Blade: Ten, Blade: Ku, Wheeling Thrust, Impulse Drive, "relic lance one", Tachi: Gekko, Tachi: Kasha, Savage Blade, Decimation, Retribution, Cross Reaper, Spiral Hell

Also I can do all the Polearm WS except the relic one but I do own a Relic Lance (not upgraded of course ).

Subbing Blu also opens up most of the sword skills for Rdm... not sure if anything is missed with it tho.

Ill never level up blu, I dont like that job

I wanna do Impulse Drive and my Relic WS already...

Sad to say Impulse Drive sucks ass
2-hit WS and the second always misses, potential is higher than Wheeling Thrust but it never reaches it in exp. I don't know how SA works with it either, probably criticals the first hit leaving the second open to whatever.

There isn't a fully upgraded Relic Lance on Bahamut yet, heck I'll never have that kind of money though

SA Impulse Drive I hear is actually pretty awesome. And I want them more for the looks.

I've played with SA Impulse Drive on Too Weaks, the output is identical to SA Wheeling Thrust.
Althought with Spirit Surge is really bulks up probably more than Wheeling Thrust does. I did the old self-sc trick when killing Lumber Jack

Engage -> Wheeling Thrust -> Spirit Surge -> Impulse Drive = Gravitation

I did SA with Wheeling Thrust for about 500 (That beetle has buttload of DEF!) then Impulse Drive hit for about the same without SA but buffed up from Spirit Surge, which was quite surprising

Can also make Darkness with SAMs using Impulse Drive (Impulse Drive <-> Tachi: Gekko), no more Fusion The only DD you can't make a lv3 SC with is RNG (discounting the new jobs).

I finally got to play with Impulse Drive in exp (SCing with SAM).

I'll note that it was against Dhalmels in Bibiki Bay and I'm currently 72 so they rate as VT I think.

This WS seems to excel with a BRD, I was averaging 500ish and on occasion I'd get over 700 (783 was my highest) but as soon as the BRD went AWOL my average would drop do 350ish and I'd get the occasional missing of one hit knocking it down to 150 once.

But it looks cool.

Yes that's the important thing, it looks cool!

I've found most everything looks awesome when being done by a mithra, or worn by one. Hence, why I play one. That and the dex boost.

Edit: Apparently the skillchain is called "Cosmic Elucidation" yet it is not real in this video, they did some dat swaps to get it.

My guess is you need Light and Darkness from relic weapons to do it properly ^^;; (i.e. Tachi: Kaiten <-> Blade: Metsu) something I will never see unfortunately.

Correction. That is a SC -only- used by a npc in the CoP story line. He can use it on you, but pc's can never actually obtain it. It looks pretty sweet.

It is supposedly burstable by all elements, but we'll never get to play with it.

Ah after I posted I thought it could have been some other random effect from an NPC or something. Guessing the NPC is on the airship battle?

I know Light -> Relic Light = Another Light
I guess same goes for Darkness.

Curious if Relic Light <-> Relic Darkness actually does anything but finding two people with fully upgraded relic weapons is very hard ^^;
