When people are dying, they usually come to find the meaning of life: just be. Be all you are, just be what you can, do what you can. Life is a three ring circus, and nothing really matters in the end, but the end can be around any corner. Just take life as it's thrown at you, and throw it back one-hundred fold!

in other words: make lemonade

also, remember to be yourself and you will be happier!

Oh God not one of those psycho-babble mumbo-jumbo crap webpages.
Friend tried to push one onto me all this crap about "acceptence" full of bad clichés and the like, if you seriously think that will cure depression or a case of "the blues" you've got another thing coming

It's more of an analyzation of the subject then a guide. In the end no one has the answer but it is fun to speculate.

That movie really sucked. I guess I should read the book sometime. At least I've heard that it's much better.

Yes, the book(s) is(are) much better.

I rather liked the movie though, guess it helps to have read the books first.

It also helps to have seen the old tv miniseries for the hitchhikers guide. You notice things like they had the original Marvin cameo in that queue in Vogsphere

The meaning of life:

Every rose has it’s thorn
Just like every night has it’s dawn
Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song

--- Poison, "Every Rose Has Its Thorn"
--- As quoted by Bill and Ted.

Life is what you make of it, it is no designated thing "THIS is the meaning of life" jaba.

Maybe the name of the topic should be: What is the meaning of your life

Life has no meaning, only purpose.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is awesome in whatever format :D I still have to read the books and the old mini-series is definately better than the movie but the movie is still great. :)

I think the meaning of life, at least to me, is to give it meaning any way I can. I have to put in effort to get results. With the short time I have, I'm glad I do things that are for the good of my sanity and for that of others. I think human relationships and friends are the most important aspects in life. I also think that's why FFXI does well -- it's so community-oriented.

The book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible is a facinating read. It starts by saying:
"Meaningless! Meaningless!"
says the Teacher.
"Utterly meaningless!
Everything is meaningless."
What does man gain from all his labor
at which he toils under the sun?

Generations come and generations go,
but the earth remains forever.
...and ends by saying:
Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the whole duty of man.

For God will bring every deed into judgment,
including every hidden thing,
whether it is good or evil.
If you should ever dare to think hard about it, unless there's something beyond the grave, this life has no purpose or meaning at all.

I just love digging old stuff up, but did you know that if you Google the answer to life, the universe, and everything that the Google calculator gives you 42? If even Google agrees then it must be so, right?
