It isn't just Titan, it's happening on Alexander too, Hauby used to be 2.4M, then went to 3M, then to 5, then to 6, and in the last day it's jumped another 3 to 9M and then 9.4M. Vcloak is apparently about 15M or so now, and Black cloak apparently runs about 500-600k now. Anything else, I'm not sure of, but those were all mentioned today in the MP LS with many statements of "wtf?" ;;

Its all elite crap any good player doesn't need and any respectable party leader wouldn't ask people to have.
It would be nice if they did, but overall it won't make a huge difference.
Personally i'd rather level my crafting skills (On the crafted items) and make signed versions for myself. That I see as being more elite than Rare/Ex NM drops. "Oh, you got a Vermy cloak? So do I and mine has my name on it!"

When I saw prices rising, I spent all my gil as fast as I could. I managed to get an Aquilo's staff for just under 2 million. About a week later it's almost 4 million.
People have been selling Vermillion Cloaks for 20 million in Bazaars now. It's nothing short of insane.
I guess a lot of people have been buying gil for Christmas

What a waste of money

For all of you looking for an explanation, we have a winner
All this inflation does't bother my good little crafting self too much. All my ingredients come from the guild. I know when to camp guilds and when to give up and go farming. And I know that inflation means that I am synthing items for almost identical costs as I previously was, but am selling them for far more than I used to

Same, at this point in my happy crafting career (Alchemy) I can farm everything I need with just a few hours a week.
The prices on Remora are just as bad as Asura.
hauby is 11mil+
SH at 12+
the SH+1 is 25+
V.Cloak 15+ (which is INSANE considering it really isn't that good. No beneficial casting stats. If I want a constant refresh effect I'll just sub /smn)
Its bad enough that silent oils and prism powders are selling at 40k/stack when its ingredients are easy to come by. Last time I checked, a stack of beeswax sold at AH for 50k+. That was 3 weeks ago, for all I know its now 100k/stack.

IGE is having a christmas sale on gil. History has shown that everytime IGE has a "sale" AH item prices spike.

I agree about the vermy cloak. Its only redeeming quality is refresh at 59. It helps restore mp faster while resting, which is not essential (some cheap errant's gear can do the job just fine), but it is nice until you reach 72, or for 60 cap events. And it's not terrible for a white mage to use until they can get a Noble's Tunic, either.
The best use, though, is as a summoner soloing bombs and snolls with carby while having a refresh effect. This is the only reason I had to have one, and it's seriously helped me level summoner as far as I have. I didn't have to rest for mp at all while I used this cloak, which in turn gave me a better chance of xp chains.
I have no regrets earning one.
But if I ever get ahold of a yinyang robe, I won't need really need that v. cloak anymore.

There are a few explantions for this.
1, Christmas.
A, people buying in game Xmas presies
B, people getting Gil for Xmas
2, The Price of Gil in $US has fallen to under $5/Million.
You have to buy an ungodessly huge fortune to get this price though.
I predict that prices will fall, but just like gas, not to where they were when this started.

OMFG prices are not only on big ticket items.
Migard: Two weeks ago the lowly L 18 Yew Wand +1 went from 2K to 12K in about 3 days. Today it is 50K. Mage's Sandles 20K to 50K overnight. All prices Jeuno, of Course.
Think I will level BLM and WHM till sanity sets in.

I kinda feel bad for the melee classes cause everything is so expensive

I know that the jaguar mantle used be worth a 150k, and now when I get it Ive heard that i can sell for somewhere between 500k - 1M.

At least they can sell the item back when they are done with it... unlike mage spells. :/

I'm assuming that was pre-Carby mitts. Someone told me that Carby Mitts + HQ light staff = Free Carby. Someone told me that with NQ light staff it works the same, only your Auto-Refresh covers the MP cost so you're still short the casting cost.
If anyone has any info as to the validity of this, i'd like to hear. I have a NQ light staff and when I get WHM to 75 I wanna try for the mitts.

That is correct. Carby mitts + light staff = endless carby.

For the levels between 51 and 62, it's true that if you have carby mitts and a light staff, carby is free... but you don't refresh any mp while carby is summoned.
Using an Apollo's staff (a high quality light staff) instead of a light staff at these levels won't make a difference either because a summoner's auto-refresh always gets counted towards your perpetuation cost first, then the equipment you're wearing.
So unless you use Astral Flow, you'll never see auto-refresh refreshing you while you've summoned an avatar or spirit.
When you're soloing bombs and snolls, you use up mp casting things like sneak, protect, shell, stoneskin, blink, barfira, barblizzara, and, when things get ugly, cure spells and elemental spirits. So, if you aren't refreshing mp, you'll have to stop every once in awhile to rest. When you do that, you ruin any chance of an xp chain.
But if you throw on a v. cloak at level 59 (along with your carby mitts and light staff), you gain 1 mp/tick while carby is summoned. 1 mp/tick doesn't sound like much, but its enough to keep soloing bombs and snolls non-stop.
Once you hit 63, you need an Apollo's staff for the same effect because carby will start to cost one more mp/tick.
I'm not just guessing about this; I speak from experience on this one.

So 63-??
How long can you keep this going with the Apollo's?

Until lvl 71, but you can keep carby free until 75 with just the NQ light staff.
Austere Robe gives an added avatar perpetuation -1, which keeps carby free until lvl 71.
At lvl 71 you can quest the evoker's ring that gives you another avatar perpetuation -1 which makes carby free for the rest of your lvling career.
If you have the gil to spare to get a Verm it is advisable but the auto refresh will stop after lvl 63 with the NQ staff.
This is if you are considering a solo career, in partysituations the Austere or Verm don't make much difference imho since you won't be using carby a lot and on all other avatars it makes no difference.
The only advantage the Vermy has is a quicker MP gainback but I use Ginger cookies to compensate for that since I don't have the gil for that cloak.
If you don't have the gil I do advise you to get the austere robe at lvl 50.
If you get into parties where you can use blood pacts the extra - perpetuation comes in very handy.
With the austere hat added you can even get a great - Blood pact delay which gives you more Blood pacts in less time.
(I haven't been able to use more then 1 or 2 Blood pacts per fight mostly tho depending on party situation.
But in BCNM fights it's very handy if you can get 4 Blood pacts off during astral flow.)

Yes, I didn't mean to give the impression that the Vermillion Cloak was a must-have.
Austere gear, at least the coat and hat, is worth getting, and it's a fraction of the cost of a v. cloak. Even if you have a v. cloak, I think austere is better to wear when you use all the other avatars aside from carby.
It took me selling off 2 years worth of collected junk plus a month and a half of farming to earn a v. cloak. I even sold off my astral ring and replaced it with electrum. I've had friends who underwent similar trials to get their hands on a scorpion harness. I realize not everyone is prepared to make that kind of commitment, though.
I just liked the cloak because it meant I could earn xp on my own at a decent rate (and empress bands make this even nicer) and not have to idly seek a party for hours in Jeuno. It's not to say you need a v. cloak to solo, either. I think a good half of my xp has been earned soloing bombs and snolls since reaching level 48 (I got started on garlaige citadel explosures even before a free carby

).

This holiday season has seen the biggest jump in prices ever in all of Vanad'iel's many worlds.
The reason can be found here, just keep hitting reload to change the banner adds.
http://mysterytour.web.infoseek.co.jp/f ... index.html
Many suspect a Gil Duping exploit is behind these prices.
Haven't seen you here in too long Tivia, stop by more often please.

I'm so pissed off at the prices and action of a now ex ls pal.
I spent my day crafting for the most part and after dynamis- sandy I go back to try to craft and the prices of all my material have doubled.
BUT THE THING THAT PISSED ME OFF
The ls leader came on after we did dynamis and said " Omg Noble just hit 30mil" I was like omfg your kidding right and the dam fool who bought the noble was in the ls. But what was so dam stupid to me was Nikot (guy who bought noble) sold his dam v cloak for 30mil. IDC WHAT ANYONE SAYS TO DEFEND HIM. HE IS A TOTALLY FOOKING MORON IMO FOREVER.
What sense did his actions make in any way. 30mil could have went to so many other dam things it aint even funny and when noble tunic goes down WHICH IT BETTER he will be sitting in ls events with an overpriced noble tunic he bought just to show off he had the money to buy it for the price he wanted.
Some ppl are so stupid it it makes u mad and they think they are funny stupid.

And there are those who say that gil sellers/buyers, places like IGE don't hurt the game's economy but make it better... bastards, every single one of them.

*Puts on flame retardant suit*
Gilselling is like a gun: It all depends on how it is used. If a gun is used to protect people from dangerous or delicious animals, then it is a good thing. Or crazed celebrities wanting to jump on our couches, or if you're short on money and rich people are walking down a dark alley.
Anyways, its the people who buy it then use it irresponsibly that are the single biggest problem. We need to inform these people that they are morons wasting real money on fake money for fake items.
