HELL NO!!!
I'm sorry but there is no way that I am spending $476 for a fully loaded Xbox360 and
ONE game.

%@#$ That!!! I'll wait til the price drop comes(which is when the PS3 comes out).

not yet, at the moment M$ still has a way too high price for something I'm just gonna use as game console.
I'll wait a year, console will be cheaper and there will be more games to choose from.

Yeah, if it was normally priced (and I had the $ to spare) I might've considered getting one. But $400 for the model with the hard drive (which mind you was standard in the original Xbox) and then you basically /have/ to have a net connection to really use 3/4 of the crap involved with the 360? Bleh. Yeah, I can play FFXI just fine on my comp, tyvm, so I think I'll just stick with it for now. ^^

I bought three, but not to keep.
I stood out in the freezing cold and in my area rain for 5 hours along with 2 others. We had a singular purpose to purchase 3 Xbox 360s. We were numbers 4 5 and 6 respectively in line. The said Xbox's were immeditally placed on Ebay they were simply the $399 premium unit no games. First one sold for $2250, second one for $1850, third for $1500. People are dumb and made our 5 hours well worth it.
they also paid for our PS3's and then some.

Good for you Tivia. /laugh
I want to playtest FF XI on the X360, mostly 'cause I hope I can talk someone out of one to do it.
$399?? $476?? {Thanks for the offer, but I will have to pass}

Pffff....why would I ever want an Xbox? I have a completely good PC. I could get PS3 someday though, when they release it - but the only reason for that are many good Japanese games that never get released on PC.

I'm getting an Xbox 360 and a 42" Sharp Aquos TV as soon as FFXI is released for the Xbox 360.
I will post pictures because it will be SWEEET!
I'll try to frame it so I get as few grown men weeping before the beauty as I can.

Well, I'm an Apple Cat. That's just the way it is. So I have very little desire to cough up 400-500 bones for something that MS rushed to get on the market only to spend the next year trying to get all the problems worked out (if ever). So, if I did get one this is what I'd do to it:

Considering the new Mac OS is "Tiger" Shouldn't that be Mac Tigers?
Another question: What will Mac OS X 10.5's name be? Mountain Lion? Siamese? Guess we'll have to wait until 2007 to see.

I'd say 10.4 is good enough for now anyway...

Yeah, the saying is over a year old now; back before Tiger. Mac Tigers just doesn't have the play-on-history that one enjoys with Mac Panthers.
Keavy wrote:Another question: What will Mac OS X 10.5's name be? Mountain Lion? Siamese? Guess we'll have to wait until 2007 to see.
Leopard; of course

It's set to be released at the end of 2006 or early 2007. Jobs said that they would like to release Leopard around the same time as Microsoft's newest Windows release "Longhorn". Which, I think they are calling Windows Vista now.
For those of you who do not know, Mac OS X versions are named after cats (so far the bigger ones). Before their release, version 10.0 was code named "Cheetah" and version 10.1 was "Puma" internally by Apple. After all the talk about Version 10.2, codenamed "Jaguar", Apple's marketing people began openly using the code name to promote the operating system. They did the same with 10.3 which was marketed as "Panther". The latest version, 10.4, is marketed as "Tiger". And the next, 10.5, has been announced as "Leopard". After that it's anybody guess but Apple has registered the names "Lynx" and "Cougar" as trademarks. Which I find amusing because the cougar and the puma (as well as the panther in some respects) are essentially the same animal.
The question is though, which version will they call Mithra?

But back to the topic on hand. I've heard a few rumors about the 360 that I'm wondering if anybody can confirm. They are:
(1) About half of the new systems are crashing and
(2) Only half of the 10 million pre-orders were available to be shipped.
Anybody have any insight?

I've heard the same rumors.
I'm not sure of the actual number of 360-issues vs. consoles sold, but this just makes me even less inclined to fork over the money for a 360.

This is one of the topics on the main alla furom discussing the issue. It seems the power supply in the 360 is causing the crashes.

Those arent roumors, there was a news article about X360 glitches a few days ago. I was too unintrested to follow it though. /ywans
Should still be up there in webland somewhere.

apparently dangling the power supply from some string or something (basically keeping it off the floor) helps stop overheating and freezing.

That's still hilarious that Microsoft isn't smart enough to figure out a power supply issue before they release the system. Do they do all their play testing in a room with concrete floors or something? XD

First I found out that you have to have an HD-TV to hooked the Crap-box up....then now I would have to keep it off the floor so the poorly designed cooling system can work right?.......wow way ta go Microshaft ^.^ b

All I have to say is what a pile of crap. So glad I wasn't even interested in buying that hunk of junk.

Nevermind, Gates has the ultimate game plan.
"Microsoft Corp. will not back down even if the launch of its Xbox 360 video game console fails to propel it to first place in the $25 billion global market, Chairman Bill Gates said on Monday.
"We'll play again," Gates told Reuters in a telephone interview ahead of the Xbox 360 launch on Tuesday."
Summarized: We've got enough money. so lets do a really half-assed job at making a "entertainment" console. Who cares if it flops as long as i can still use [ridiculous sum of money] as toilet roll.
How long do you think until they try to buy out sony?

I would so love to see this MS try. Sony has its fingers in so many pies that I doubt microsoft could even make a decent offer. Sony makes movies, music, electronics, has oodles of government contracts, games, game consoles, the list goes on lol.

LMAO!! Yeah I heard that power supply could also double as a lethal weapon if youre ever short of one.
