Me too! Just finished watching the series last week. ^^ Jewel Staite =
It's a pity they didn't make more episodes - 'Firefly' had a lot of potential to be one of the best sci-fi -series among Stargate SG-1, Babylon 5 and Farscape.

Unfortunately, the network didn't understand what they had with Firefly and killed it just as it was getting off the ground. I'm glad that Universal decided to pony up the cash for the movie.

Already have plans to see it when it comes out Friday. However, I'm more impatient for the continuation of the series. I sincerely hope the movie does well.
Background for others:
Firefly was aired on Fox for a very brief time. The official pilot movie was not aired on until much later and the show actually began with the first hour-long episode where the crew had already gathered, met and been through a bit. Three or four episodes later, the show was cancelled. The entire first season is available and includes thirteen episodes and the two-hour pilot. Some say it was the time slot that killed it. I hear others saying that the wild-west-sci-fi theme killed it.
I bought the Firefly series on Amazon for $30. 14-15 hours of enjoyment for such a low price. How can you go wrong?

I just hope the movie isn't the "you had to have seen the series" type.

The bad nesw is I talked with Jewel Staite (Kaylee), and Morena Baccerin (Inara) about the show at Dragon Con. They stated that there are no plans regardless of the success of this movie to return to TV. However they did say they had a 3 movie deal w/ Universal Studio's.
I know that Universal will own the rights to Serenity, but there is still the possibility that they will sell the rights to the Sci-Fi Channel for Firefly. Then a new TV show might come back.
You get to meet all the Importanat people when you show up at a Convention in Marine Corps Dress Blues. Fringe Benefit

So reading this, does this sound like it is a movie designed for people who liked the show? Because if that is the case, I am probably not going to have any idea of the interaction between the characters. I am sure they will expect people to have some sort of knowledge of the series and will apply plots/twists... But, since it looks funny and all spaceylike I want to see :3

Personally I thought the movie was great. I never saw the show or heard of it until my friend said we should go see this movie. He showed us an episode so we could get to know the characters. I didnt like the episode at all. The movie blew my expectations out the window. =)

Seeing how the movie had a completely different feel, and the characters didn't act like the TV show, I'd say Serenity was made to stand on its own. Definately an awesome show. I'm going to see it again with a friend today.

You helped make the movie?

Yeah, but my job was probably the least glamorous, and definitely the least creative. I just checked frames the artists were rendering of different effects in the movie. But it was still cool anyway! ^^
