never done this before so when it says "application successfully submitted" is that an automatic ticket to the server, or is it "well you may be picked at random"?

My assumption is that it's on a first come, first serve basis. If you submitted it early enough, I'm sure they'll be more likely to move you.

Though I'd also assume that, just like a job application, it doesn't mean you're in necessarily.

Yes. I think when I applied for the last emigration (when Hades and Remora were created), I got picked. I wouldn't even know because I was a silly newb on Shiva who didn't know I couldn't go to my friends on Siren and Carbuncle (I don't even know if they play anymore. Sigh..)

Yeah...

I suppose what would also be to find out is when exactly they start moving characters. Is it at the end of the week or progressively as they get applications?

They said the transfer would happen at the same time as the maintenance. At least the emigration now isn't to a brand new server with no AH history and every area under beastmen control at the start.

ya... but then again you dont get the privilage of experiencing that "New server smell" or the honor of being the first person ever to camp Valkurm emperor on the server.

New server smell is alot like Galka BO.
I know there will be alot of complaints when it first takes place like "The AH prices are jacked, I wanna go back to my old server." This emigration I will have no sympathy for those kinds of people.
I think this all is in preparation for when we get more players when 360 comes out. If this doesn't work, we will probably see a new server before the launch.

I don't think so.

A large part of the inflation we are seeing in material and crystal prices is due to the newbie / old hand ratio. Our new arivals produce a lot of those things. The old hands leveling other jobs often save those things for their own purposes rather than sell them.

My Midgard kitty has 33K in her purse, a Beestinger, Marine Shield, Yew Wand +1, and Wax Sword +1. You can see my levels in sig below. I haven't worked the AH hard nor spent an inordinate ammount of time farming. When one can sell singles of silk for as much as 3K, and a stack of Fire for 7K.... (Extreme prices true, but I can wait for the desprate or wealthy and foolish to buy.)

I think this is rrrealy to balance out the server populations before the new platforms are released. That way, the new chums will be distributed across all the servers somewhat evenly.

Remember, since WoW, EQ2, and Gild Wars, we have lost more population than we have gained.

But many seem to be returning. :)

They realize what they were lacking in those games and decided to come back to the one game where most things were balanced.

Not to mention they prolly didnt like the open PK policy of WoW and EQ2.
Or if they did like it, they didnt like it being used on them..
