Monster Player Kill, its when someone claims your mob that you have been fighting, and leaves it clamined so that you cant attack it, so the monster kills you and everyone around you. (because you still have hate built up)

or, if a bst takes an aggro mob and releases it right next to you. Or if a thf *cough*convier*hack**cough* or nin (most commonly used jobs) makes a train, then Perfect dodge+warp scroll, or mijin gakures.

It happened to me the other day in Qufim. Someone trained a bunch of Dancing Weapons then warped away right by the tower where myself and quite a few others were. Needless to say there were quite a few deaths.

I called for Excape while i held the off being the next tank, but 2 seconds before escape went off >>>> Karou was defeated by the Exoray. I reported to a GM they took Care of it etc.

i dont like morons like that, they knew what they were doing and they knew we'd die.

Making a train of sight agro monsters and then using Thief Hide can creat an easy MPK too... :!:

Well i've done it once...just to test my theory, I quickly took the monster out after it wen't aggresive on the nearest target. It was funny though...

Ephi I agree that in principle MPK is an absolutely rotten thing to do. The link that Darkmattre posted showed two groups of gil-farmers attacking each other and generally making gil-farming more difficult for each other. That's a good thing. Gil-farmers = gil-sellers. Their little war also caused them to catch the attention of a GM, who no doubt ended up banning most of them (I hope), which is an even better thing. :D

That link was funny but at the same time it was just pathetic... Why can't we all just get along?

BTW: props to the kitty who took those screenshots!

The problem is, there are those playing who have no other job options (eg. Hair clan on Gilgamesh). I talked with these people for a bit (I konw a bit of chinese), and this was pretty much their best job option. If this is their only way to make money, then I don't mind as much. The only time I get really pissed is when somebody is doing this, when they already have a job.

You're joking, right? Or are you really that gullible?

Chinese? Having a computer that can run FFXI? That have FFXI? That have an internet connect that allows them to play FFXI? That have connections that allow them to sell gil and receive income from it? They are this resourceful and can't get a real job?

Please. Gimme a break.

Sorry, no sympathy for the gil-farmers. Nail them as often as possible because they are the scum of the earth!

I don't sympathise with them, however they told me that they all work for this one person (or so they had told me). I never sai that I sympathise with them honestly. However, I can sympathise with those that are honestly in that situation.

edit: I also honestly don't wanna turn this into another "Lets kill the gil sellers" thread

(Hmmm.) :?: Very interesting...

Do you know more on how they operate?

I'm just not gonna fall for the whole situation. I don't care what they told you. They are scum. They should be removed from the game. I don't care who they are or where they come from or what their situation is. Making money dishonestly is making money dishonestly.

This whole story is ridiculous. What did you expect them to tell you? That they were brats from a high income family who are supplementing their allowance by exploiting the game? What makes you think they were from China? Just because they spoke Chinese? Like there's not a million people in the US that speak Chinese. If someone steals my wallet, I'm gonna beat the crap outta them and take it back. Guess what? I have a family to support and I pay ridiculous taxes and medical insurance premiums and utilitiy bills and gasoline bills and food bills, etc., etc. I don't have a whole lot left at the end of the month and barely cover the cost to play this game.

Everyone has their sob stories. We all make do with what we have to work with. When someone takes something that they don't deserve then the people who have struggled to work for what little that have need to put the smack down on the free-loaders.

Again, no sympathy. The "but these are poor little kids from third world countries just trying to make a living" crap simply doesn't fly. It's lies. Wake up.

Erm, Lihera, that anger wasn't directed at you specifically. I understand how you feel. But I also feel that you have been misled.

Sorry, I guess I got a bit carried away. :P

I think the 24/7 players may be either botting or sharing an account...

The Chineese Gil farmers are all emploies of sweatshops.

The sweatshop provides the place, the computers, the internet conections.

They work 12 - 16 hours a day for wages that are meerly decent by Chineese standards. The job is one of the safest sweatshop jobs there is. People have died of overwork sewing in China. (I have sewn for my living, it isn't that physical, but I have never put in more than 10 hours a day, 5 days a week at it.) The sweatshops are usually a 24 hour a day opperation with each farming character on 24 / 7.

They are not paid by the hour, but rather by a strange varaition on a percentage plan. There is a minium ammount of Gil they must make to be paid at all. At certan higher ammounts they get a bonus. Hours worked do not figure into the equation.

None of this gives them the right to muck up my game by throwing the economy out of whack. None of this gives them the right to violate the ToSA.

The sweatshops sell the Gil to AMERICAN COMPANIES like IGE. These are the ones who must be put out of busness. Without IGE and their ilk, the Chineese would not be Gil farming for a living.

well, probably because she asked, or got it offa some forum somewhere. For instance, I know that the hairs make about 4 yuan an hour (about 50 cents). To put things in perspective, average schools cost 100 yuan per month, and the mean income for the average chinese person is about 5000 yuan anually.

not like I follow this issue or anything...

Off topic
4 yuan = 50 cents
so 2 yuan = 25 cents
25 cents = 2 bits
so a yuan is a bit :?

How do I know this?

I have been folowing this whole thing from before I played MMONRPGs and the sweatshops were in Mexico farming whatever they spend in Everquest.

There was an article in Wired, the print mag, about this way back when Everquest was the 2,000 gorilla.

Much of the rest comes from keeping up with things through print and online sources.

One of the good things about GameFAQs, the news about the gilsellers, their in game cohorts the sweatshop Gil farmers, and anything else related to the subject gets a link posted FAST.

I was looking for a MMONRPG to get into. One of the atractive things about FFXI was the ToSA, which banned the practices that supports a small, highly exploiting indurstry.

Well, I guess I'll post my MPK experience. Here goes:

A friend and I were in Palborough Mines getting Kazham keys for another friend, and this really high level guy comes in with a huge train of quadav. They kill me and the guy who needs keys, and the other guy manages to zone. Just when we think everything is all right, he comes in again with yet another train of quadav and kills us all. >.< (I forget how we got raised the first time so don't ask. =P)

I do not recall this experience having anything to do with gilsellers, but it might. Maybe I just don't know, I'm no expert. ^^; I remember my friend (the one who didn't need keys, I think) said the guy who MPK'd us was out to kill all the competition or something like that...he did kill a whole lot of people, not just us, and some had zoned to the dragon fight place, and they were all mad at him... this was a while ago, don't remember too well. ^^;

Edited because in the original version, the grammar was atrocious and practically nothing was capitalized. I have no idea why I once wrote like this, so don't ask...
