Apparently, fishing is both easy and fun from those that tried it. You can actually get more fish faster. I think the price of fished up Nebimonites (used in black ink, an ingredient of shihei) should stay the same, or even drop.
More good news for ninja, I should think

I tried to skill up woodworking and alchemy to make my own shihei. I suppose I should have even picked up fishing while I was at it...
But I gave up when I realized I have a serious lack of Mog Safe space for the materials, and I don't want to get a mule
I just completed the second Mog Safe quest though and Gobbie Bag 3. That should help
