Actions Taken Due to Member Agreement Violations

PlayOnline (2/14/2005)

On February 14th, over 800 accounts which repeatedly violated the PlayOnline Member Agreement were permanently banned from PlayOnline.

We have taken this action against players who have monopolized notorious monster (NM) hunting spots in groups and performed harassment and MPK against other players. Please refer to the related news item for more details.

Although 800 accounts spread over how many servers? Not really that many per server I think. There are a lot more that are exploiting the game. But still, good news!

800 doesn't sound like a lot (about 27 accounts per world) but how many characters are on each account? It adds up. More importantly, I think this will act as an example. SE will defend herself and if you are not careful, she will send her assassins out into the night . . .

Anyhow, let's see in Ordelle's Caves if Markpreston is no longer camping Stroper Chyme.

Anyway, this seems to be only the beginning. They threw out the worst offenders first. I assume they will collect more evidence (think of all the logs and GM calls they have to dig through!) before going after the others.

I heard that Dress and company are still camping Stroper Chyme on Midgardsormr, and the binfens are still kicking around. Come on, SE! Ban some more!

lets not get too blood thirsty. I'm gonna bet that those accts had the average 2-4 characters so its like a loss of 1600 - 3200 characters total. it is definatly enough to send a strong message out to the people. Maybe they wil hire more GMs to assist with this recent advancement on striking down the tyranny that is NM hoggers...

but then again, just by removing those NM hoggers, it opens the door for more of them to take thier place. and the old hoggers have to buy new copies of the game to log back in and gil sell

Not to mention rebuild the experience they lost in the process. 2-4 characters per ID, maybe. But only one main character. A PlayOnline ID can't be used by more than one person at the same time. The 'main' gilseller character is the important one.

Maybe it will send a message, and maybe it won't. It does make more people report on whom they think are gilselling, though. That's a major step in the right direction.

I wonder how many, if any, E-bayers woke up to find they couldn't log in...

i was desparate to get this 1 NM an i annoyed a potential NM stealer
she blisted me but im afraid she might report me...
funny thing tho my lil bro tried to apologize for my screw up an he got blisted too

But the key here is that (hopefully) you were not monopolizing that NM, camping in groups, nor running trains onto people. Nothing wrong with camping an NM, it's when you put other players at a disadvantage that you're beginning to cross that line.

Think about it, if you are scared then I'm sure many others are as well and if this is true then one of the objectives of SE's recent actions has been acomplished

as far as i no i wasnt monopolizing
(sad thing is if i cant get back on it wouldnt be worth it it was just Spini)
it was just my 1st Spini was stolen from me an i wanted to kill it just because it existed (i only got silk thread anyway)
that bein said i obviously got it now so i wont just hunt it relentlessly now

God, FINALLY.

I know on Siren, I've seen a lot less of the Zoe, Zoo, Zoa, Lnt, Lhc characters over the past few days/weeks.
