Quests quests quests
the best and only way to get fame,
You can do some Selbina quests to raise your fam too.
Just trade about 20 to 40 stacks of La Theine Cabbage to the guy standing at the Sheep.
(What's his name..)
Good for both Sandy AND Bastok fame

or you can mercilessly kill bubble bernie over and over and over and...you get the point.
Each steam clock he drops is worth 500 gil and bastok fame. Just buy some quus fish (should be fairly cheap for a stack) trade one to the ??? behind the lighthouse in south Gustaburg, kill Bubble Bernie (level 10 NM) return to Bastok, MAIL THE CLOCK TO YOURSELF, go back out kill bernie again, repeat till delivery box is full, and then deliver the clocks one by one.
yea it's tedious...but 1 stack of quus fish will bring in 6K gil and fame.

NEKO
I have level 9 Hero fame in bastok. The way I did it was as posted earlier, numerous slaughtering of Bubbly Bernie.
4 flint stones for Aquilla in the Markets
1 Sand bat fang for Yazan in the Port
Zehruhn Soot and Trent bulbs are used to, but i dont know where.
They are all repeatable so you will get the fame constantly.
+ 1 stack of Boyahoda Moss = .75 levels of fame. You turn it into the sheep guy in Selbina.
Hope this helps

Am I the only one that feels that it is kind of cheep to get fame by repeating the same quests over and over?

Nope, you're not alone.
I only offered some quests to get quick fame.
I'd rather do regular quests myself too

unfortunately, i know someone who's done EVERY bastok quest there is and STILL had to fall back on some repeatables to get max fame there...so unfortunately you do have to use it a bit anyways....might as well just find an easy one to do and do it, you can always do the other quests for more story though

Yes and no.
I don't know about these people who ALWAYS run out of Flint Stones to start their fires, but those sheep are constantly hungry. And did you see the SIZE of them?
All the Best, the feed my sheepies quest, is perhaps the single best quest in the game. It gives fame in Selbina, Bastok, San d'Oria, Jeuno, and Rabo. I have heard both that it increases and decreases Norg fame as well. Who would have thought that so many economies are dependent on wool?
Some quests, like Mandragora Mad or Afriad of the Dark, make sense as repeatable quests. Others, such as In a Pickle or In a Stew, seem a bit contrived for repeatability.

No, but I don't share that opinion.
If quests didn't have fame requirements I wouldn't do repeatables over and over again. But you know what? They do. I need my gobbiebags and MH expansions. Running all the unique quests isn't viable either as Maezen mentioned.
Running cabbage to Selbina is
the fame quest for the game. It raises Selbina fame, which is linked to Bastok and Sandy. Since those go up, Rabeo does too. Jeuno's fame is a bit weird. If you do a non-Jeuno quest you also gain some Jeuno fame. It's not (Bastok+Sandy+Windy)/3 like everyone thinks.
So if you go from dead 0 fame (no quests run) in Bastok and run enough cabbage to get hero fame there, you will have hero fame in Sandy, Selbina, Rabao, and Jeuno.
There's a rumor that if you're from Windurst or not from Windurst you also get fame there. Totally false. This Norg fame rumor is new to me. Also false. This quest has no effect on Windurst or Tenshodo fame.
To raise fame in Windy use your new hero fame in Bastok to buy Cornettes super cheap (Bastok must be in 2nd place or better) and trade them to an NPC in Windurst. You can use a macro to trade em even! Cornettes act just like consumables for macroing.
/targetnpc
/item "Cornette" <t>
Takes a LOT of cabbage to max fame (7 or 8 trips of 30 stacks of 12 cabbage

) and it takes about 216 Cornettes to max Windy fame from dead 0. 9 loads of 24 is what I did, checking fame after each load. Oi.
Tenshodo is a pain. Zinc ore in Bastok and Yag necklaces in Windy are the only viable ways to do it. Neither are easy. Bring your field gear or farming items.

how do you get La Theine Cabbage ?
Thanks everyone ^_^

That depends on who's in charge of the Zulkheim region.
La Theine Plateau
Valkurm Dunes
Konschtat Highlands
Anyway
Don't buy them on AH!
If it's Sandy you buy them at:
Aveline in South San d'Oria F-7
Phamelise in South San dÓria K-9
If it's Windy:
Bin Stejihna Windurst Woods G-8
Kopopo Windurst Waters E-8 <-
If Bastok's in charge of the region:
Rosswald Bastok Port J-7
Prices may vary on Fame level in the current region.

Well most people don't realize that non-repeatable quests give you morrre fame then repeatable ones. Infact if you have done every quest in Bastok once, you would have near hero fame. Most people do the repeatable ones because they don't want to take the time to do the harrrder ones.

Doesn't the cabbage quest actually lower your fame in Norg though? Why can't there be a repeatable quest that raises your fame everywhere??
I don't mind doing every quest I possibly can, when I have the time. But if I can't do something because of fame requirements, I'll go get whatever those hungry repeatable NPCs want at the AH and give it to 'em!

I'm not so sure about this, I've seen people post both. but in game
experince seems to show me that all quest give about the same fame.

Well known in most circles, some quests do give more fame than others. Things brought back from more distant areas, in a higher level zone, give more fame than most.

But it only takes 9 stacks of Bodaya Moss.
With cabbage: 30 stacks of 12 cabbage @ 5 cabbage / quest = 36 quests / trip X 7 0r 8 trips = 252 - 288 quests.
With Moss: 9 X 12 = 108 quests.
It can also be done with Millioncorn at 3 corn / quest. anyone know how many stacks of corn takes to max fame out?
Mandragora Mad gives more fame for the Three Leaf bud, the Four Leaf bud and the Sulphur than the Coronets. The Gil/quest he gives is a good indicator of the amount of fame you get.
