Darn cool....
I'll adjust the dimensions / file size for avatars if need be.
Currently (by default) images can be no bigger than:
100x100 with a file size of 12288 bytes (12k)
hmmm

I have a pic I would like to use but sadly I don't really know how to reduce it's size. I think the only photo program I have is paint.

so got any hints on what I could do?

That's where I can come in and help out

Here's what to do:
1. Get a graphic hoster. I like
http://mywebpage.netscape.com (yes they work, or you wouldn't see my sig and avvy right now. If ya have a AIM account, use your AIM username and pass on it. If not, you can just reg. Doesn't allow you to login if there's a problem with the AIM server, though). There's also
http://www.villagephotos.com/ (the problem with this one is you have to login once a month else you'll lose your pics and they have a trashy 5 meg a day bandwidth limit),
http://www.myimgs.com (Don't use their code! Hit View pic instead to get the right URL),
http://www.iownjoo.com/ (Pain in the neck to upload multiple files and ya have to upload or delete something once a month in order to keep your account),
http://www.sighost.us/ (you can't use a free e-mail account to get space there), and
http://www.you-are-a-huge-nerd.com/ (You don't get your own account, and there's a time limit. You'll have to reupload it every six months or so). All of these are free, though some of them you can pay money to get more features if you're in the mood. (I don't, but...)
2. Upload the screeny/pic and post the URL (of the pic of course) here. I'll do the rest and PM you with the result a bit later. (I'll try to do it within a day if I don't get too busy)
The trouble with Paint is that when I do avvies, I have to crop the pic EXACTLY square before I resize it (I'll aim to get the head and shoulders here, if it's your chara). Paint won't let me do that, and it won't let me resize either! I use the GIMP to do that since it makes it a lot easier (yes I use Windows. Windows 98 as a matter of fact on the comp I have it on(it belongs to me, by the way). The PC beta's on the family comp, not mine. Mine is too old an' slow) You can get the version I use here:
http://www.wingimp.org/ . Don't be fooled by the offer of them sellin' CD's, it's a free download. And the GIMP as always, is freeware under the GNU licence

pic extentions

Most boards only like *.jpg or *.gif, far as I know. The avvies I've done are usually one of the two formats.
well, it worked

Aaaah, know how ya feel. I've been out of college (graduated) all summer, they said they were gonna delete mine(it's
here...most of what's left is a redirect to my new page) after six months, but they still haven't. I just won't use'em for any serious graphic hosting since I don't know when it's gonna go.
Funny how schools are lazy that way....

You sure can!!
The url to that one is
http://mywebpage.netscape.com/MaryAlice ... 9mogav.jpg .
I also have the orignal scan I made that from, I could make you a larger version if ya want. That one is one of the ones I made to the RPGamer board's size requirments (no bigger than 64X64 or it'll autoshrink it)
I also got some more, I didn't post them all since I was afraid I'd bog down anyone's connection that's on *wince* dial up. If ya wanna see more, go here:
http://maryadavies.250free.com/avatars.html (WARNING! Lots of small graphics on there, if you have dial up you might wanna think twice. Also, that server gives ya pop ups sometimes

so make sure ya go turn on your pop-up stopper (one reason I REALLY want to put my personal page on a pay server) before ya try it.)

When I first saw the Mithra avatars, I wanted to make one from my character, but then I realized that I may not look the same in the retail version (even with all the hair compliments ^^)... so I'll just use my DragonFlight image I have until I have a new character to show off.

Those are some nice ones there but I hate the way they portray mithras in those pics cause I think we look more like monkeys in those pics

Or maybe we look more like werewolves, either way there is too much hair.

Then maybe it was lucky that I only saw that one! If any other concept art pics are worse, I don't wanna see'em.
But ya might wanna remember that they refine any character models and/or concept art before said game even sees beta (even if they inhouse beta test it, which I assume they did with any game other than FF11). I'd looove to have some better mithra pics to make avvies out of, though...
