Cooking Guild points

Hey cats, I just recently started turning in items for points to the cooking guild. I know other guilds sell crystals and such that allow you to sign items and things but I was wondering what the cooking ones do. Also if anyone knows how many points are needed for the cooking guild clothes let me know, I checked and didn't see them listed and figured that I just didn't have enough points yet to go and buy any of them. If it helps I think my rank is "Recruit", maybe that's why I can't yet see the clothes.

Also, (DO NOT ASK ME WHAT LEVEL THIS IS!) there's a key item you can get with guild points that'll let you make sushi, from my research. (Once you have this key item, you always have it btw. It is not used up)
I'm gonna have to work on that so I can keep my brother, Shadowneko, fed

let me rephrase my question....do the HQ crystals that I can buy with my guild points just give me a higher chance to HQ or is it an automatic HQ?

Actually the crystals you purchase allows you to put your character signiture on created items (until they are sold on the AH). So the Cabinet you make with the special crystal will be signed by you! (or sushi

so the crystals are for signing the food you make....seems like such a waste to go and sign some apple pies that are only going to be eaten by you or a close friend.

Yeah I tend to not purchase those crystals for edible items LOL
However its cool to make your own weapons and give em to friends with your signiture on it. Too bad when you AH it, the signiture goes away.

How do signature items work? I'm confused. Is there a specific set of crystals that you buy? And how do you get guild points? By synthing stuff in the guild or what?

You use your guild points to buy these special crrrystals that allow you to sign items.

Each guild will grnat you a certain amount of 'guild points' for crafting an item and turning it into the guild. (i think you have to be at least level 30 in the craft to start this.) For every item you turn in you get a certain amount of guild points (only a certain amount of items of any one type can be turned in for points to encourage diversity.) Once you have enough guild points you are granted an item that boots your skill in that craft. If you've seen players with items like the chef's hat, leatherworker's apron, or shaded spectacles you'll see what i mean.
At 30,000 points you get to do a unique skill. Alchemy's i know is Anima Processing, and i know culinary is raw fish handling (for making sushi-type foods.)
Here's what i have for the alchemy boosts. (it's what Gwynn's concentrating on right now)
Points: Rank: Description
30,000: 00: Anima Synthesis :Key Item: Anima Synthesis is a forbidden type of alchemy that is used to drain elemental energy from remnants of lost memories, and trnasform it into a partially materialized "quasispirit" known as anima.
70,000: 48: Caduceus :club: DMG: 3 Delay: 216 Alchemy Skill +1
Additional effect vs. arcana : Bind
Lvl. 1 All Jobs
100,000: 68: Alchemist's Apron :armor: DEF: 3 Fire+1 Lightning+1 Alchemy skill +1
Lv.1 All Jobs
150,000: 88: Emeralda :Furnishing: A compilation of manuscripts left behind by a well-renowned alchemist.
Though i've put alchemy on hold for goldsmithing, because the 70,000 reward is a pair of shaded spectacles. (gold sunglasses) cause they look F'in sweet.

I still think signing food items is a waste. It's not like you can show it off to everyone like you can with signed equipment. The only real good it does is to like sign a cake, pie or steak for some special event. Also does anyone know the number of guild points needed to get the cooking guild apron/chefs hat?
on a side note, if you're lazy and or rich you can BUY the items to turn in instead of crafting them yourself.

Hmmm. I thought you weren't able to do that? I thought you actually had to make them there, then trade them?

really there's no way for the guild to tell if you bought it or made it yourself. I know my friend who's doing clothcrafting, has gone and bought the item needed to trade in and gave it to them for points. not sure if he got it from the guild itself or from the AHs, but he's done it.

Id' feel so bad doing that. I'd rather craft it and try to get my skill up rather than buy it. Oh well. it's the same as buying items to trade to NPCs to get your fame up, I suppose.

well there's that or if you're simply not good enough of a crafter yet to make the items they want. Another thing to look for is sometimes the guild of AH sells the items you need to turn in for CHEAPER than what you can make them for. I've only turned in Dharmal steaks so far and I made those myself. I haven't really kept up with the guild, and often times they want items that cost way too much for me to make or are outside of my crafting range. I guess I'll only turn items in if I see they are taking items I can make or I can find the ingredients for. But for now I think I'm going to give up on cooking and focus on the Bonecrafting.

You can just buy the requested items.
Keep in mind that every 10 levels you gain, the items asked for can increase in price / complexability. One day the weaving guild asked for Twinthread Obis.

They will never ask for things you cannot make, at least in theory, but at 30, you could be asked for a level 39 synth item.
So if you want those guild points, accumulate as many points as you can BEFORE level 40.
