I think it means that "Too weaks" will actually decrease, because it seems they're saying that the level range to actually be able to get exp from a mob will increase, therefore probably remaining DC and EP longer than they currently would.

Also, you've been in-game... on another ls... :?

The way I see it things will still {check} the same but the EXP they {Reward} will differ.

I would like an event where a Monster can roam around and enter town and start killing things. It would require a monster that can zone. It would be kinda cool to have 2 or 3 of these things roaming around being evil, then again, maybe not.

Josiejo wrote: Critical hits also will interrupt you even with Stoneskin and Aquaveil, but of course, there is less chance of being interrupted with them than without.
I'm not sayin this isn't true or possible, but I don't recall ever seeing a 0 damage critical hit ever interupt me.
You'll also need a RDM main to Refresh you or carry lots of Hi-Ethers/MP drinks, because this kind of tanking sounds like it burns up MP like a firecracker in a dry wheat field. :o
As a 71 white mage, I tanked Dark Spark without running out of mp or the need of potions. Flash and Stoneskin don't cost a lot of mp. In fact, they're far cheaper than the mp you'd spend on cure spells if you didn't use Stoneskin. ;)

If it does look like you're going to run out of mp and lose the fight, you can always teleport out as a last resort.

Now you're ragging on me! :x

You're just jealous because I tank more than you do when we party. :D :P

Two things:
(1) Anybody would be hard put to out do you Crisp. So, yes, I think most DRGs would have a hard time keeping up therefore if you weren't around my "holding hate" role would be easier.
(2) I thought you were the tank? :? I guess I need to step up my game. :P

I will put it simply........

DRGs are not tanks
DRG are DDs

DRG is the only Melee job that can efectively use a Mage sub (others can too but DRG does it better)

but many do not relize how wel DRG can sub mage or halfmage (PLD or DRK) and acualy still play very well, and vcan even save the PTs ass at some point.

Okay, added two more things for Monday the 11th.

The first is that they are adding an option to add an NPC to your battles. Not sure how it's going to work exactly but this sounds like an answer to the many many cries of "Why can't we solo for xp?" and "Why can't I do anything solo in this game?" Sounds interesting. From the picture, it looks like Olivia from the CN. Some are saying that this will be the greatest update to date. I think that there is some hook hidden in here that they are not telling us about yet, like your NPC buddy starts off at level 1 or something. My biggest concern is wondering if this is a fun novelty or something that is truly addressing problems within the game. We shall see.

Next, I added the server maintenance announcement. This is not the version update but in "preparation for the upcoming version update". Please notice how long this maintenance is ... 16 hours!

Well, imo we are now in Mid-July, this update better come soon but from the maintenance announcement it's not going to be for another 7-8 days.

Edit: It has been brought to my attention that my math skills need some fine tuning. ^^; the maintenance is 16 hours not 14. Sorry about that ^^; Thanks Leane.

I wonder how well an NPC like this would behave.

An NPC might be fine as mindless damage dealer, but there's no shortage of PC damage dealers as it is. For healers, support, and tanking, however, it's nice to have someone who can adapt and make the right decision, especially when things go wrong.

Do you think we'll be able to control these NPCs as a second character or will we be subject to their random behavior, much like a summoner's elementals?

NPC helper.... Cool! Will that mean that now you can do a 3 person party int he dunes too? Will the NPC nerf your EXP, and will they be able to die and can you raise them???

Sounds like they will start at level 1, which I don
't mind cause i already have a level 1 job, I feel sorry for those trying to level them up from level 1 and they have all their jobs ar +20, LOL!!!

Will they get get treasure too, making partying with them on item hunts a little pointless?

The NPC thing sounds nice and all, but I'm concerned that it might take away from the community of the game. Everything shouldn't be soloable. I enjoy helping others in-game, but my biggest problem is that there are a lot of things that people need help with that I myself can't even do because of my level/job. And sometimes when I need help, no one's available.

So I wonder how suggestive you can be with your NPC's actions? Like, if you wanted to Sneak/Invis through the Magicite mission, could you make your NPC cast those spells on you when you needed them? That would be nice, definitely. I think my "helper" will be a White Mage, if I can choose it's job... maybe you can make your helper Teleport you too!

Meh... I don't like the idea of "helpers" if it takes the place of other PCs. If it completely replaces them, why interact with anyone? Just my 2g.

They will prbably nerf the helpers so they are basically useless, it will be fun to get them accidentally "killed", LOL

I like the idea of an NPC helper.

Seeing as how hard it is for a WHM to solo and that even with a BLM sub it's not easy to do a lot of damage alone.

If the lvl does start at 1 and xp is affected for it I can just lvl it with my THF when I get a chance to.

Also if you go treasuer hunting with it just change lot settings to where all items go to a specified "holder" instead of pool.

It does seem nice since every job I seem to pick has some low defence/not enough damage being done job. Whether WHite Mage or, my Insane Dark Knight. <.< that would be I highest and most loved job, specially for mithra. These NPC's could even fight FOR you as you heal them etc, etc..if this is the cast wit aill be even better cause whm can stick to..whm'ing! not to mention it's an excellent way to lvl Enhancing/Healing Magic..

Added more info yesterday and today. Yesterday's was on the preliminary version update download for Windows version only. Nothing too shocking there. Today's info is about a new fortune-telling NPC and changes to the character title selection. I don't know, I think they are either scratching at the bottom of the barrel for update news or they are just saving the best for last. (More {Ninjutsu} spells, more {Ninjutsu} spells, more {Ninjutsu} spells ... ) Sounds fun but my mind is still on the update news of June 30th.

They should fix the airship passenger quest so it only gives a title the first time it's completed. Sometimes I pass up the gil just so Very Discerning Indivdual won't overwrite a title I like better.

One thing I wish they would add (this comming from a prospective SMN) is add even more avatars for a SMN to get.

*dreams of having the King of Dragons from 9 fight side by side or an avatar like the Sisters from X*

:D That would be so cool.

They should just make it so that you can choose in the Config or something whether you want your Title updated when you complete a quest that grants you a title or not, or have a menu of titles you've acquired and allow you to choose from that what your current title will be and lock it if you don't want it changed. I see the usefulness of knowing what quest someone had most recently completed, but since you can already change your title, and some quests don't change it, then it seems that usefulness is already compromised, so why not just make it completely player-assigned?

Bah... I'm still waiting for the update where there will be more jobs/races/face & hair combos/equip models.

Again, posted the latest from POL and I think we have come to an end of the little update information bits.

Added information about the new CoP final battle area; should come as no surprise. And I added all the news about all the world maintenance and its corresponding news addition.

Well, in my selfish little ninja mithran heart I was hoping for some better update information for a Friday. I suppose I’m seeking vindication that the grass will still be green in the pastures I roam. Well, Ce qui est fait n'est plus à faire.

Idiomatically, "What's done is done."

I welcome any change SE sends our way and I'm not afraid of the Big Bad Wolf.
