Despite my brother and I relinquishing our christian faith, we still cellebrate Christmas due to our strong christian parents. Stating my current religios views is a whole other story that I won't bother going into. Anyway, I'll be baking cookies, setting up the train, hanging stockings, decorating the tree, etc. I still need to finalize my christmas list to include only 1 or 2 new video games. So other than attending church, I will have a typical christmas.

Yule does date back to merry old england and even further back. All the old Christmas carols that talk about the yule season, yule tide and so on are from European traditions.
One of those old words we've phased out where the Americans still use it (due to lack of language progression
).
Apparently both Celtic and Pagan celebration for the Winter Solstice (longest night around Dec 20th-25th).
