If it was an OK adjustment... hell why wouldnt we still play. I'm not saying I dont like it..
I just love the how ranger is called... and just love the ranger.
Who are you to judge those people who quit ranger.. they couldnt accept the adjustment?
A LOT of people... complains because there must be reason.. not only because what you are telling me lol.... You cannot say they were dumb or sissy... you cannot call everyone who whined... they couldn't accept the play style.. THERE was reason but you guys are just too blind to see and ONLY ARGUE.
Obviously, people complain for the same reasons dragoons forever have a bad reputation (even though they don't deserve it if people would just give them a chance).
Once dragoon/samurais lost their nearly perpetual penta thrust attacks (which was clearly an overpowered problem to the rest of the damage dealers), everyone complained and called dragoons useless. Most former dragoon players walked away from their job even though dragoons still had a lot to offer.
It's the same thing with ranger. Once you take away the unhindered damage from any distance, the overpowered advantage is gone. That's why people complain. They want those days back, even if they pretend they don't.
As for not keeping up with the damage of a warrior chopping away with dual axes without sacrificing accuracy... Oh well? Rangers aren't the queens and kings of damage anymore. Get over it.
You said yourself you put a lot of effort into getting good gear. Do you think the other damage dealers don't?
Not only that, but if you play a mithra character, you're weak on strength. Maybe you should just complain that sushi is an unfair towards mithra instead of wondering why elvaan warriors can outdamage you as a ranger.

ok. I am going to attempt to make the "Kill the Thread" post. I got a few minutes before I leave for work, and a bucket full of "WTF!?" on the floor next to me.
Why were Rngs nerfed? I dunno. Maybe because of the fact they were just annilating everything with sickening percision. Does it make sense that when you shoot a bow at someone at POINT BLANK RANGE that it clobbers the hell out of them? No. Shooting a bow at point blank range is stupid. The enemy can easily dodge it, and now they do.
If you wanna be an in your face ranger, get a gun or a crossbow. Both of these are more useful in close range. See where I'm going with this?
Bow = Far away.
Gun/Crossbow = Up close.
And that's how it should be. So, how about Throwing?
From my experience, Throwing skill has not been modified. Still just the same as it was (But with my pethetic skill, you can't really tell.). Give it up already. Rng is not dead, you just need to find the new way to play it, or just shut up and quit it --;
To cap off my ranting to end all ranting (hopefully), If I here another thing about how other jobs got nerfed, or how this job got nerfed more than that job, I swear I'm gonna break something. SE is trying to make the game more Realistic. If you swing at something, and a shadow keeps taking the attack, you tend to get freakel\d out and don't want to fight that guy (Enmity -). As for the Asuran Fists and Penta Thrust BS that people keep ranting on, Get over it! I'm a 60 Drg, and I have to deal with the non-shalont BS of being told "Since the Penta Thrust Nerf, you are completely useless. We don't need you, and no one ever will." Bull sh*t. I've proven I can outdamage Samurai, Hit as much as a Thf, and beat the hell out of something a hell of a lot better than most people at my level! Why? Because I focus on compensating for my loss through effective planning.
If I can overcome Drg's "Issues", you can get over Rngs. Deal with it.
Rant out!

both sides to the argument need to back off this flame war. I'm calling for a thread lock. This is not helping and all that has become of this debate is just another attempt to say "I know more then you"

the whole answer to the question posed to Tanaka-san regarding black mages and manaburn parties.
Regarding "manaburning" parties, I think that sounds pretty cool. [laughs] What I really meant to say at the time is that I think it's a good idea, and if anyone hears those stories about those kinds of parties and feels that Black Mages are too strong, I would like them to be more creative and to give you help in making your jobs strong so you can do more interesting things like that. But I don't think the BLM job itself should be weakened just because of this current trend of a new way to form your party. And this goes for every job. I'd rather adjust things laterally to try to bring a job's strength up or down. The only exception was the Ranger, not just because of the way people play and the amount of money they put into it, but also the job itself had a fundamental attack advantage, and that's what we most recently tried to fix. But in general we don't want to make any job weaker.
Thread lock? {yes, please}

Actually, the range order goes like this:
Longbow -> Gun/Xbow -> Shortbow -> Throwing.

Interestinly enough, IRL shortbows rule the arrow distance competitions. The arrows themselves are facanating, using heads made of things like ivory and fletchings made from razor blades.

As for what could have become a good discussion I sadly have to confirm that some disagreements have gone a bit too far.
As requested I'm now locking this thread.
I'm still considering filtering out the bad and leaving in the good to reopen this discussion and hope it will go further in a normal fasion.
But tomorrow at earliest because now {I'm sleepy.} =_=
