Sounds about as fun as.... Fishing.

Do you have to complete any missions to get to Bibiki Bay? I haven't been to any of the COP areas, but I've had the expansion for a while now.
Why don't they come up with
fun minigames? I haven't liked one minigame Square put in any of their games. In fact, I avoided Blitzball like the plague. Now, I guess fishing and crabbing aren't really minigames, but they're probably the closest thing FFXI has to one. And they are (or sound)
boring. Bleck.

you can choco all the way down to the docks to wait for the boat, the monsters standing on the docks might look dangerous but as long as you don't attack them they're harmless. If you do decide to poke one with your sword be careful >.>; they link. Also, if you decide to go to Bibiki, it's got a beautiful backround, but don't touch the Urgamites or whatever they're called.

Well ... todays new info started off good ... but ... not what I was hoping for. Oh well ...
If you are one of those people that have a mannequin then I guess this is fun news but to most of us ... meh. (Come on SE, we don't need movable dolls in our homes ... how about a giving ninjas some sort of Sneak?)

Then again I think it is funny cause i am a level 34 RDM and i still wear certain pieces of level 14 equipment because it has supperior attributes.

Level 46 RDM and the Battle Gloves are still in my melee swap macro.
You want the Mercanary Captian's belt and the Holy Phial. You can find better than the Light Soleas in the level 30 CP gear or the upgrades of them.
You should also have a Black Neckerchief to swap in for your Black Spells. It is a Quest item wanted in Port Bastok, and you will need to hunt the Silk Catapilar. He is trigered in Rolanbery Fields, 100% drop I think, location is well known. You are probably big enough to solo him.
Good hunting.

No kidding... how can Square have missed this one annoyance for so long?!?! With all of the other stuff they're adding, it seems like this would be cake. Apparently it's too tough to think up and animate 8 different dance animations. (5 races, 3 of which have 2 genders) Blizzard animated 16 different animations for /dance... come on, Square!! That's just half! Please... everything else they're adding so far, excluding low level equipment storage, is pretty mundane. Give us new jobs, or give us /dance!

Holy Phial is overrated.
Besides at lv 48-49 you can wear a promise badge from a windurst quest and it is like Holy Phial on steroids. Gil is hard to come by. so Justice badge till you get Promise badge is better imho.

He is Elvaan, he needs MPs more than we do. I wear one. It isn't that expensive, not like some armor, knives or rings I can easily think off.

Justice Badge = DEF: 1 MND: 3
Holy Phial = DEF: 3 MP: 9 MND: 3
I'd say Holy Phial is better until one can get the Promise Badge. That's 23 levels from Holy Phial (lvl 26) to Promise Badge (level 49)... no reason not to upgrade, in my opinion.

And what update would not be complete without .... (drum roll) .... new armor and the recipes to make them! I've added the info to the top ... as always.
Now ... don't whine but I have a feeling that this armor is for the higher levels ... which is fine by me because I don't even have my ninja AF yet.
Enjoy your day! Mmmmm coffee ....

Yeah we Elvaans cannot store much MP in our bodies, and you would think the big ears would act as antaneas or something....

Yuk... I haven't tried Ballista either, but I don't really have any desire to. Maybe after I'm a much higher level, I'll check into it. Just too many other important things to do right now!

I'm pretty pissed off at reading about the new update they plan to add
The number of experience points required to gain each level was originally calculated after considering players' effects on the world of Vana'diel as they progressed beyond the initial level cap of 50. However, a considerable amount of time has passed since the implementation of the final cap of 75, and players beyond level 50 no longer have the same influence on the balance of the game. After a close review, the FINAL FANTASY XI development team has decided to reduce the amount of experience needed for leveling up after reaching level 51 (levels 1-50 will remain the same, however).
of course this kind of stuff happens after I already have a job at 75 and bst almost at 75. The new people already have a easier time getting to 75 with the new exp system after lvl 50 and now they'll require less exp?

I can't say I'm too upset about that... then again, I don't have any jobs over 50.

Well I'm not at 75 with one job yet,
but this does not make me happy either....
This is one of the things that takes the challenge out of maxing out a job to 75.
Because a hand full of
Whiners thinks lvling takes too long...
Thank you very mch SE, I am completely
NOT happy.

I forgot the link or w/e but they said the reason they are doing this is as a marketing stategy to
Intrest new players
Bring back old players
Revitalize current players
I can see why and I wont complain myself (~52 THF)
I do feel sorry for ya tho /comfort
I knew this was gunna make bunch of high lvl ppl that worked so hard to earn there exp. The thing that im afraid of is that there are gunna be ALOT of high lvl noobs
Ive partied w/ a few mages that know jack squat cuzz they just power though there lvls and not really learn anything or unable to keep up to spells/equip
But what I'm gunna do till this update?
Lvl my lowwer lvl jobs that I planned on lvling latter and maybe lvl thf to 53 (only 2k tnl)

Well ... y'alls beat me to it this time.
Added the XP info changes.
I guess this is good for some and bad for others. (Being level 48, I'm somewhat happy) But I think people are jumping to conclusions here. How much do you think SE will actually lower it by? 1%-3% per level is my guess; maybe less. What about the new lower KO cost (8%, 2.4k max loss)? Nobody has mentioned that. People could say that the new 2.4k loss cap is aimed at the higher levels and not the small guys. SE likes to move in little steps. And I don't think that we are going to be seeing a lot of "noobs" in the higher ranks. The commitment to 50 is still there. Besides, real noobs buy their character on eBay.

Well, with white mage and red mage post level 50, and black mage not far behind, I welcome this news, personally. I could see why they would require significantly high experience levels during the period of time shortly after they raised the cap from 50 to 55, 55 to 60, etc. They probably had a glut of level 50 characters and this would keep them occupied for awhile.
But as it stands now, trying to get 20k xp per level for my 56 red mage, and over 35k xp per level for my white mage is nothing short of tedious.

Any scaling back would be a welcome improvement
Now that I tihink about it, I'd better not level white mage or red mage until after the update so I don't waste any more time

My highest level job is 38 Red Mage, and I agree about the noobs who do too much power leveling, they don't realize how to use their character. I take time off between powerleveling to run missions and solo stuff so i can learn all the little details that being a Red Mage entails. Plus I buy as many new spells as I possibly can so I can play with them and find which ones are most effective. I have gotten praise in parties as of late because i know what i am doing.

Yeah, you can definitely see the difference between a character who had to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps and those riding the powerlevel train or buying their characters from IGE.
If you make all your mistakes early, and learn to overcome them, you become a much better player later on.
A couple of nights ago, I partied with a red mage who couldn't even keep the mages refreshed (other than himself) or even debuff the monster or cast dispel as necessary... pretty much the three basic functions of a red mage.
He was rdm/blm and I was rdm/whm, and I was supposed to be the main healer... but we ended up switching roles just so we could keep the xp flowing. After 15 levels of Refreshing, I think I got it down by now

I have a feeling that when word gets around, no one's going to be leveling above 50 until after the update. Personally, I'm gonna spend the next couple weeks finally getting my last 3 sub jobs to level 37 and maybe quest for my Hat of Pimpin'.
