Alright... soooo... big problem.
I'm trying to install FFXI. Seem like an easy deal right?
Well, apparently POL had issues with Vista. They released it, and as soon as I got vista installed I went there and installed POL.
Now, you'd think everything would run fine now? No. Apparently when I try to install FFXI (I'm installing it from the 2005 Collection Edition. ) it won't let me because POL doesn't match the one on the CD.
So, anyone have any ideas, or am I stuck trying to mysteriously dig something up.
And POL is updating right now, I'll try again once its done.
Edit: Nevermind. I had to explore the CD and manually tell it to install FFXI, RotZ, and CoP
Edit #2: Holy crap these installs are going by quick.
Installing FFXI on Vista. {Help me out!}

Well at least MS doesn't fail to correct fatal errors in their older versions of their operating systems.
Sure, Apple gave us a patch for the Panther glitch that causes the screen freezes but the one where the computer crashes when the cache fills up? Its still there. Apple Tech Support solution? Go buy Tiger or wait until October and if you're lucky we'll release a version of Leopard compatible with IBM processor Mac's.
I'd rather be running ME on this thing right now.

Well, here's the whole thing if you want to run FFXI with Vista.
Besides installing the program by playonline.com, and installing FFXI by hand and the updates. There's a few things you gotta know.
If you're going to run full screen. You're fine. Just try to not leave any programs running in the background. You might get screwed because of it.
Now, if you're running the windower. You're going to have massive amounts of fun. First of all, when you want to use it. Right click the Launcher.exe file and launch it as administrate... or else it'll crash when the middle when it windows asks if you'll allow it to run.
Secondly, the windower randomly crashes on me. Sometimes it'll crash every 10 minutes, or so, and sometimes it'll stay on for like a few days.
And thirdly, if you want to install a program, like flash 9, or update something. Guess what? You're gonna crash FFXI because Vista's gonna stop every online program you have running, and ask, "Do you want to allow this?"
Personally, I won't turn off that feature because I bet it'll save my ass in my future. Even if it is a pain in the ass.
