ps2/router modem problems, need information please

ok,
when i first started FFXI couple years back i played on ps2 with dial up and all i needed to do is directly connect the wire thing to the phone jack and login ffxi and stff
but now
i quit fxi when i still ahd diap
now im comeing back to the game...
because its a f%^#$ing drug
so anyways
do i need a router to connect to the game now that ive gotten DSL the psat year,
or ca i just connect the ethernet thing fmro my ps2 to the modem thent the phone jack without the router?

and im really glad to be back in the game soon

When I had DSL I could directly connect my PS2 and Xbox to the device itself. With Cable I had to have a router. I could not connect the modem directly to any device without a router. Call your provider and ask them.

I think it depends on the modem you have. Most likely there's only one place for the modem to go out, so you could probably connect anything with an ethernet connection into the modem but only one device at a time without a router.

A simple wired router is pretty cheap these days, so it's not a bad investment. For a bit more you can get one that can go wireless too.

i tried today and my friend let me test it with his account and played a bit on it
now a new question,
besides ebay,
im trying to look for ToAU for ps2 and i cant seem to find it on gamestop for ps2 and such
so does anybody know where they might still sell ToAU for ps2 or somehow get it besides ebay

I don't know.. I'd say check Amazon.com and a few other sources for new unopened copies of the game. Also, check and make sure that every bit of detail they put is correct, and their selling rating is damn high.

Typically people have the DSL router (which has 1 ethernet port) and then a router, which has many ethernet ports and maybe built in wireless. Unless you have a router you'll need to steal the DSL cable from the back of your computer and put it in the back of your PS2. Or, if your computer is wireless and you have a router, you just need to connect the ethernet cable into the back of your PS2 into your router and you should be set to go!

ohhhh
i just visited the palyonline website and i chose the link that redirected me to the SE website and they do sell the ToAU for ps2 for about 25 bucks
i just dont know if theyre in stock because it doesnt say they have or dont have some
but ill give it a try
and whats a backorder?

A backorder = Out of stock, planing on getting more. If they mention a backorder list, your name is on it. This doesn't mean they will either tell you or autoship when more stock is on hand unless they have explicitly mentioned that.
