The dmg is coming from a drg two lvl's lower, plus that was the dmg without crit's included, and without his wyvern dmg. So no, im pretty right on about the numbers. I believe everyone wasnt doing potential dmg in Garbage Sh*tadel when they were lvl 31-32. But after lvl 33 they got way easier. lol. None the less, lvl 41 Dark Knight now. When do learn a new WS ><

Normally I only use Beserk, Last- Resort, and Souleater when I have TP for a weapon skill. Then I immediately take it off so I don't die. But like I said, I was just curious to see what happened if I had left it on.

(P.S I don't think that Drg was using food. I however was using Meat Mithkabobs.)

Citadel = bats, bats have a natural weakness to piercing so I'm not surprised that he outdamaged you.
Rangers, Thiefs and Dragoons rip those to pieces.
Moving on to beetles you'd both probably do the same.

Speaking of lolDRKs, DRK in party yesterday was omgsuck. I didn't realise it at first but he was using no JAs (Soul Eater, Last Resort, Berserk) and the only magic I saw him use was Stun
His gear seemed okay (though I didn't examine him) and he was using a Great Sword, always did Frostbite or Freezebite (forget which one), think Power Slash or Hard Slash is better Not even sure if he was using food

Rice Dumplings are for everyone. Rice Balls are meant for Sam. Anyone can use them, but you can't get the full benefit out of them unless you're Samurai.

Eviticus is right, while Rice dumplings are mostly for a melee job, Rice balls truly shine in the hands of a Samurai and their kotes.

Just a side note from where someone mentioned they need a Scythe with piercing damage, even if they do, it won't change WS damage. I can use a sword with Piercing damage, my normal melee hits get the bonus, but my WSs won't. WSs damage is only classified by the type of weapon, instead of the weapon itself. (Otherwise I'd completely own a Lesser Colibri with my PLD and Joyeuse. )

Riceballs do not have an Acc bonus. With the AF Kotes or the L 70ish headpiece they have Def and Att bonusses. Absoluetly stunning ones I might add. But SAM/RNGs are stuck eating Sushi anyway.

The best SAM bonuses come from wearing BOTH the AF and the all-job Jinpachi. If you're wearing both the rice-ball enhancing items, you get double the effects. Undoubled, you're usually better off using regular food. The doubled effects are pretty damn nice, though.

As my melee kitty is SAM 61, I wouldn't know yet. On her normal EXP mobs she misses too many Barrages and Sidewinders on the Rice Balls. Chaining Ts and VTs they work well.

Pretty darn nice with only the AF hands. Attack +50, Defense +30, Double Attack +1 for the Tonosama Rice Balls.

It depends on the situation, really. What they're fighting, what mage(s) are in the group, if they have to pull or not, etc.

My 5 person static from 57-75 had a rng in it and he'd go /war and use meat if we had a puller and enough healing/support mages. Otherwise, he'd use sushi and sub /nin.

It's really very gear and critter-dependent on whether you eat meat (atk) or fish (acc). In general, if your foodless hit rate doesn't parse 90-95%, you get more out of fish than meat. As THF-75, I found that with +45acc from gear, my hit rate is about 85% eating meat versus XP critters (EM-VT). So, on THF I eat meat. THF sneak/trick gains from ATK balance out the 5-10% extra TP/dot I'd get from eating fish there.

My nin gear doesnt' have as much wiggle for acc v. atk, so I always wear atk and eat acc there. On NIN75, my hit rate is about 93-95% with fish and about 80-85% meat. If I ever get rich and can test out PCC + 2xSniper+1, I'll try meat again on NIN. I still have more important things to buy than spending 7-8m for that last 2-3% on NIN XP dps, though.

BTW, how does that relate to SAM rice balls? Well, the rice ball bonuses are all ATK. Based on my experiences with meat, fish, and acc-gear on thf and nin, I'd say that a SAM would need a TON of +acc gear before he could really make rice balls pay off more than sushi. PCC + 2xSniper at the very least.

By my experience, without pimped out Acc (Woodsman & Verner rings Hauby, CC,*), the rice balls are fine for SAM/WAR but I lack the Racc on them for SAM/RNG (Jaridah Peti & Salvars, Merman's Gorget, Scorpion Rings +1*).

Zanshin just does not help Barrage or Sidewinder.

Hehe but Sharpshot helps Barrage and Sidewinder. The difference between a SAM/anything and a SAM/RNG is Acc/R.Acc+22 which is quite a sizable amount. You can get hold of a couple of R.Acc rings to macro in for all your ranged stuff if you need.

The folks in the DRG forums say you need at least Acc+40 to be able to use meat (attack food) in the mire and a few other places, so T-VT stuff. Including our Accuracy Bonus I that's Acc+50, considering we don't have a body piece with a lot of accuracy (ignoring SH 'cause AJ is really what you want unless you're lucky enough to get Homam Corazza) it shouldn't be too hard for SAM (and DRK for that matter) to get that much.
I Think 40 is a bit low still but eh, don't forget Hasso gives you Acc+10.

So if your average SAM/RNG has Hauby, O-hat, Woodsman/Snipersx2 and Chivy Chain that's a grand total of 22+10+10+10+10+5=67.
SAM/anything else would have 45, I dunno if you guys can get acc gear in other places though so I only listed the obvious.

Edit: Back to the topic, forget silly DRK it's silly everyone these days. My God yesterday's party was so bad I think it gave me cancer.
A SAM that couldn't SC, a RDM that wouldn't Dispel, a WAR with gimp gear (Royal Squire body etc.) and a poor taru NIN who likes to keep hate too well but has problems keeping his shadows up. Don't really think the NIN was bad 'cause I know how hard it is but when I'm trying to get the SAM to WS and Dispel with my acid bolts I don't see him taking beats
