So A Girl Rolled up to the starting line....

Post by Karou Ariyen »

Okay I'm that girl. I pinkslipped tonight. Mitsubishi Eclipse vs Aston Martin DB9. was a pre-picked drift course in Chicago I picked out after the streets cleared in the business Disctrict. Easy race right? Pinkslip your cars and one person walks home.... welll That's the PLAN. Didn't happen. About 30 seconds before we were going to finish, something oddball happened. I was about half a car length ahead, props to my opponant for giving me a real race for once, and my police scanner sitting next to me alerted Chicago Police to OUR area, for suspect street racers. Well we both on a mutual agreement broke off to split the fudge out of there.

On the way back, I called my b/f who was monitoring the scanners someone else had, I asked him what in the blue blazes happened. He tells me that those who showed up to view the race, said that someone tipped off the cops to our EXACT location. As I type this, I'm looking at notes he took, 3 people were arrested, 2 ticketed, the rest (including us) got away.

Moral of the story.... well, you'd expect me to say, don't street race right? Well, as a legal matter, no dont, as me? Pfff as if. I dont know how it happened, but I'll be a bit more wary of your friends. Ya that's kinda the point, bangs home to FFXI too, Pick your friends wisely, becuase no one likes to be stabbed in the back.

As for my opponant, no one loses their cars this time, but we'll meet again, cuz I do plan to become friends with someone who has respect for their fellow racers

P.S.: ALWAYS Buckle Up! What? I do....

As someone who used to race, but never on the street, I am not going to tell you not to street race.

I will say it is dangerous, far more so that race course racing.

In Seattle the best places are newer industrial districts. Good quality and empty streets, not on or near any nighttime patroll aera. In Chichago these would be a lot further out then they are here though.

Ever heard of Banzi Runs? This is a LA specality. They do not race for pinks, though it takes turbo Porches to even open, pinks are too cheap for this crowd. Format, the LA freeways 3 - 5 AM. There is almost another freeway interchange 2 - 5 mi away, so the course is highly varaible. Cops? Not a problem. At three miles a minute and a different freeway every 2 - 3 minutes you CAN out run a radio. WAY more dangerous than what you do though.

In the 1980s & 90s people were running retired group seven racers and building cars to grand national specs for this. I have no idea what they run today but I bet 200 before you hit the NOx would be a minimum. Maybe 220.

You almost went home with an Aston Martin  way to go girrrl. The tipoff probably came from a friend of the owner. It is a common way for people to cheat when racing for pinks. Before you risk your ride again do a through look at your opponent's racing history and record.

heh not bad. street raceing isn't what every one thinks it is.lest not up in washington that i can find. moves 2 raceses run and repeat
pluse it's all ways the same damn meeting spot which the cops know about and monitor. only went with my friend cause he wanted me to go with him. (me haveing a 1986.5 supra and him a crapy jetta) so I go and race my friend and win.

cops bust it up and i don't make it out so I hide and wait for the cops to leave. then head home.

boring. some nice cars but boring and alot of people there were assholes. but some nice people there. any way at a track you have proof you made it and no worry of tickets. but street raceing is fun cause the element of danger and being chased by cops

Rules Are simple for most chi-town racers, we all have safety harness's, and scouting teams who check the areas before hand. The courses in chicago I like that we have mapped out are combination, sprint/drift, I.e. most of the time you can do one without the other.

I always wear my harness and As for aggressive driving, Yes I'll swap paint, and so forth but no deliberate ramming. The Pinks? Well most people here dont do it, becuase you gotta have nuts to be able to pull it off, I rarely do that anyways, usually i race for chicken scrap cash, enough to survive on and keep my car tuned, etc.

drags i dont participate in off drag strips, I watched someone total their care once cuz they didnt pay attention, Owch.

Ahhh, okay, the GSX AWD model. I always forget those were available. I'm anti-FWD anything. Which means 9/10 of the import "hot" cars on my shitlist. If it's truly RWD tho, how much that take ya to do? Drivetrain swaps are kinda rare. :o

ugh, the drivetrain swap. I worked 2 jobs that year. wore myself ragged. scrimped and saved. burned movies and music and lived on ramen. every cent that went into that 7398 drivetrain swap was well worth it too. Makes Drifting easier. I lost a lot of my life that year, and I swore to pace myself for the rest of the car. which I have.

oh and incase anyone wants to see what the front bumper looks like, i digged up an image of the kit i had replicated for my 2g:
Image

now, I want people to understand, it's not exactly similiar becuase 2G eclipses have cat eye headlights (how ironic, i should put a Mithrapride decal on there O.o) and cat eye taillights. mine is a bit smaller and less wide, still a widebody though becuase Its being done off rough images from a video game. I wanted a kit that would be unique, something that no one else had. I dont know how it was physically made in house, becuase that's not my area of expertise. i dont build kits, i install them. I designed that on some image software (the rought design) and had some co-workers do it.

Oh Ya, becuase You're gonna ask about this Kin, What do I use besides a car alarm, or if a wire goes bad? THIS~ Based off Formula 1 technology.

Its A Quick Release Kit for my steering wheel. The nitrous ignition buttons are on the steering wheel and have a quick disconnect so I can take my steering wheel with me. saves on auto theft, go ahead break in, can't drive w/o a steering wheel :O

Prrretty.

But if you would like to make a living street racing, build a sleeper and learn to RP as a doofus. Or maybe RPing a party girl would be better. The one girl I know who did this was a natural blond and RPed rich airhead with daddy's car.

i dont do much on the streets anymore, its fun now and again, but your always watching over your shoulder, besides i do more charity work with the 501st pathfinders etc. besides im working more lately and a lot of endgame dynamis with xi.

ya i've seen people use "daddy's" car. this kid had daddy's lambo, took it to the Chicagoland speedway for drag night. he actually bet his daddy's lambo against this guy whose been dragging professionally for years. well I wonder how/if he got home on foot. cuz I'm sure daddy wouldn't be too happy.

My car is always being broken down and rebuilt constantly, but not so much lately, bills more important then horse power.
