Okay, so last night I was goofing off, looking for something to do. I went to South Gustaberg as SMN to farm for Fresh Blood to kill Chocobo Leech so I could get the Katana he drops (Again, I was BORED!!!) and after getting the Blood I switched to WHM to kill it. Anyways, as soon as I walked out of my MH I got a party invite (All I got on SMN was one party doing Promy Mea looking for a sixth. I really wasn't in the mood for a Promy and their begging was pissing me off) so I accepted the invite on WHM, told the beggars I had an XP party, and warped to Jeuno.
Normally I gather Juice supplies for Refresh if there is no refresher but I didn't have time (Party was waiting on a healer and really wanted to get going and leader swore I would be fine without refresh) so off to The Boyahda Tree we went. Setup was NIN/WAR, WAR/NIN, Monk/WAR, PUP/WAR, BLM/WHM, WHM/BLM with me as the WHM/BLM.
So anyways, the leader (Ninja) is passing out orders and the WAR/NIN translates (PUP, Monk, and BLM were Japanese) and I'm thinking "WTF? Flash, 4x Haste, and Regen II on NIN and WAR?" So I went along because the Ninja swore repeatedly he had done the same setup last night on his WAR and it worked beautifully.
So we start and yeah, it was amazing. WAR pulled, there were 2 SC's with BLM and NIN MBing them both and best of all, the PUP's Automaton was Flashing when I was preoccupied! Damage was insane, we hit Chain 5 consistently, and we actually got to a point where we had to pull Crawlers to keep the chains going because Crabs weren't spawning fast enough!
Six hours without a break and we were all two levels higher and exhausted so we called it a day (It was midnight where I was and I think the Ninja was East Coast) and the Ninja gave us his Parser results: PUP didn't do as much damage per hit as the other DD's, but his DoT balanced it out.
I should mention this PUP had a ton of ACC+ equipment and was using Sushi so that probably helped, but still. Someone with a C weapon skill keeping up with a Monk, WAR with 2 axes and a Ninja is pretty impressive.
So I take back everything bad I ever said about PUP's. In the right hands PUP is an amazing DD.
PUP is AWESOME!!!

TBH if the PUP could keep up with the WAR and MNK then they are sub-par. Their damage isn't that bad but it doesn't compare to any other DD, especially after you hit 60 they really take a nose dive (it's that C skill).
The update helped but it wasn't a major improvement.
I compare PUP to BST myself. Puppetmaster to Beastmaster similarities start in the name
PUP has a C skill and a bit of a pussy pet, BST has an A skill and has pets that are nails... hmm...
Personally I'd rather invite a BST/NIN or BST/WAR than a PUP/whatever, Beast Roll is better than Puppet Roll too
