A fun fact regarding perception:

There was a strange experiment once where scientists forced subjects to wear glasses that made their vision upside down.

After wearing them for a week their brain adjusted to them and they saw right side up.

When they took off the glasses their vision was upside down again and took another week for their vision to correct again.

The human body can adjust to pretty much anything.

Also: if you lose a sense or the ability to move or walk, then your other brain functions will take over those sections.

Also, while the brain can be damaged, it does not ever stop regenerating. Its just that it can not replace itself. Meaning getting drunk won't kill your brain because the damage isn't that much. A blow to the head is different.

Also, the human skull is one of the hardest surfaces that is not man made.
