JP PT Only
Those dreaded words have become my bane. More so then gilseller's. And that's saying something if you are familier with my fury towards gilsellers.
Anyways, hello, I have no life. As thus, I mostly work during the day, and play FFXI at night. Occasionally I substitute one or the other for socializing, but yeah. I don't get much play time during the day. As thus, most of my friends on FFXI are nightowls like me, or EU players who like playing in the morning.
I'm a 63 Drg, my job is popping off Skewer's onto Trapogan(birds) in Bibiki Bay, then jumping away that massive hate before I get eaten. My latest pet peeve is when I'm either lfp, or trying to get one going.
/sea all invite 61-65
JP ONLY
Jp pt {please}
{English}{party}{Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass.}
What the hell? What did we ever do to them? (Besides bomb two cities of theirs to rubble, and several more to flames I mean.) Ok, granted, I've met a large number of very friendly JP players. I've been in quite a few parties where I was the only one speaking(halfway decently anyways) english. I've even been in parties with 3 or 4 languages, and I was the mediator of our own little bastard U.N.
But where does this massive surge of xenophobia come from? What ever did we do to deserve this? Why does my lance pale in comparison to a Japanese one? I can understand some people not wanting to go to the lengths of trying to communicate with someone who doesn't speak your own language. But from 2 am CST(-6 GMT) to about 8 in the morning, you just can't get an invite half the time.
Do our avatar's slouch just because we're NA/EU? Does my mithra have bad english breath that makes JP skin break out into hives? I can't understand this at all.
JP Onry {Too weak}. JP/NA {Team up?}

In the end, I'm just talking out of my ass. So take it all with a grain of salt.

EU morning players exist?
Night time for you would be what time for JP? I generally play when they're all sleeping but then again the Japanese don't sleep
I think they're;
1) Too lazy to use autotranslate
2) Too snooty to want to play with us
3) both of the above
Japanese are very polite... except for the gaming community

I think its because they have been playing longer then we have and still see us as noobs
but then again on my whm most of the partys i get only be and atleast 1 other can speak english. the other 4 only speak jp

I'd have to agree. I was putting a pt together one time and trying to get a JP as a sixth, but he told me {English} {No thanks.}. Then as soon as I told him we had a JP member already he said {Yes, please!}. As soon as he got in pt, him and the other JP wouldn't stop talking...motormouths. Even JP parties I've been in, they don't shut up. You're right, seems the JP just like talking.

In some cases it can be hard to communicate clearly using auto-translate and I think that some of the problem lies in that.
As for me, I seem to get lots of invites no matter what time! If there's a party I get an invite.

I don't run into that much, being a RDM I rarley seek or asemble parties. What I get is a querry in Japanese. When I answer using the auto-translate function there is no reply.
I have been the only english speaker in a number of Japanese parties, my gripe in there is never any sense of how well they like the way I do my job. Chatty they may or may not be, but talk to me? Hardly.

Yeah, for the most part in JP parties they just ignore us. I can remember one time the leader told me I was a good WHM. And several times I've been complemented on my RDM. More often when I have to do the RDM Chainspell Superman thing to save the day because the crap hit the fan I get the {Red Mage} {Impossible to gauge.} line. I'm pretty good about dispelling immediately too. In one party right on the first mob I started casting Dispel just after the mob started readying its buff, so it got Dispelled right when it buffed itself. It happened so fast that the JP was like {Dispel} {Please} and then O.O right after along with the {Red Mage} {Impossible to gauge.} line. I guess he thought since I was NA, he figured he'd have to tell me when to do it and was surprised that it was done so fast even before he had even hit his macro. I've even been complemented by a JP on my THF, which kind of surprised me.
My experience with RDM though is that if the party isn't saying anything to you and for the most part they just keep on going like you're not there it means you're doing a good job. Personally, and this goes for any job, I think the JP are more considerate and thankful when you're doing an excellent job than NA players are.

Yeah, JPs don't generally tell you how you're doing. You're generally just expected to do your best.Tsybil wrote:I don't run into that much, being a RDM I rarley seek or asemble parties. What I get is a querry in Japanese. When I answer using the auto-translate function there is no reply.

It's usually because of their English usually sucks...
(I'm not kidding, but most japanese ppl can speak very little english)
Moreover, they don't like us english speakers because of some of the bad thingy made by english speakers like us.
e.g. : a RDM who malee without keeping the track of the refresh circle or keep an eye on the fighters' HP, a NIN who never throw any ninjutsu except utsusemi to keep hate on him, a PLD who do not use sentinel or defender while tanking, etc.
