It bothers me to no end when you get into a party with a Blm who uses a DAGGER at lvl 27, in Yhoator Jungle, Who Melees with it, Overcasts, and DOESN'T MB! To further add insult to injury, if you are a War or a Mnk and dunno how to skillchain... *twitches* Run... just get away from me before I get my lance....

With those unknowledgable people, I usually just stand there and try to explain stuff to them while praying that the other party members will chill out and quit shouting at the poor guy. ^^;

I can totally understand like a just-leveled-and-got-Trick-Attack THF in Kazham asking how to pull off SATA properly, but it's kinda sad when you're a lvl 30 whatever, yet you don't know what an MB is... I can also understand not knowing just which element bursts with which SC type, but all mages should at least know what an MB is.. Or ask.. Or something...

It's one thing to ask questions about a new ability you gain, but you really shouldn't go asking how to MB or SC at lvl 25+. I can still understand it (To an extent) in Qufim, but I draw the line there.

People need to know this stuff. If you hear something and don't know what it is, you can ask a mentor or a high level near by, when you are at a level that is understandable. By the time you get a Subjob, you should know how to write macros, Skillchain, and Magic Burst (If you are a mage). Also, you should know how to do your job (I.E, War/Pld/Nin tanking, Whm/Rdm/Smn Healing, Rdm/Blm Magic Bursting, Smn Summoning, Nin using Utsusemi, and other thing like that).

Questioning a skill is fine, questioning everything else... I draw the line there. If you can get access to Kazham, please, for the love of god, know how to do your job ><;

I never imagine that it would be that bad.

DRG/NIN is sometimes ok, but the unacceptable one is BST/SMN...how the heck did he/she came up with that idea???

A solo BLM could use a dagger (there's a mp-drain WS) but not a PTing BLM.

A PTing BLM needs loads of INT, MND, amd MP. So, a wand is the best choice.

Oh, if one doesn't know how to MB, I'll /tell to him/her personally until he/she does it properly. (No one never want to take advantage from their jobs if know had known it)

Another thing is, I noticed that a lot of mages do not know about the element wheel. (e.g., Using ice magic will make the mob temperary weakened to fire) And it's absolutely bothering me when someone breaks my element wheel magic using.

Drg/Nin has a very very limited range of uses, and has 0 solo capability until 74, and you better be super skilled with Utsusemi if you don't wanna die. Then again, that's normal for Nin o.o

I should point out that the Bst/Smn I was refering to was someone I ran into in kazham. I wanted to kick them upside the head. The BLM was in my party, was using a brass dagger, and had this issue of just being annoying. Not as bad as a Wandering Thf, who, had they actually been with us during THAT fight, the party wouldn't have wiped -.-; Last thing she did was say "I'm out of ammo. can someone else pull?" and went AFK for the remainder of our fights. She milked some 2000 EXP before we noticed >.> god, we're slow -.-;;;

Yeah considering Healing Breath only kicks in on completion of a spell, all ichi ninjutsu takes like 3 seconds to cast there's no way can cast while being beat on so it is a bit pointless.
And in partay there's no use for Utsu since they don't get beat on much and dual swords suck ass compared to a good lance

Utsu:Ichi isn't that hard to cast...a pain if you're fighting something that likes to randomize it's attack pattern (crabs anyone? Trust me, severe pain) but not impossible by any stretch of the imagination. ^^

But yeah, DRG/NIN is ehhh....um....well, yeah....eh, screw it, that idea sucks. Rather be /WHM...and this is coming from someone doesn't even play the job much. <.<;

BST/SMN? Woohoo, eat more MP faster....oh, wait, with what spells? Seeing as you can't really /use/ that MP for anything useful. Call Carby? Not while you have a pet... cure yourself? Not without Carby. Holy hell Batman, useless MP!

In my verry first ever party, November after the NA release, level 10 - 13 in the Maze, we SCed and MBed. Or at least tried.

By December of that year, the word in the dunes was "Why bother? No damage and plenty of time to learn that before the Jungle." Today even in Dunes parties where everyone in Rank 5+ and on yet another job, SCs are scarce as Male Mithra.

But the parties have 2 - 4 subless newbies right now.

And no one is teaching them anything.

I use a dagger as BLM. Solo, and not a bronze one either.

Where does this "SMN need to heal" crap come from? We CAN heal if needed, but we're more effective if we do our damn job!

Last night I had a jungle party at the entrance to SSG. It was NIN/WAR, WAR/NIN, THF/NIN, BLM//WHM, and 2x SMN/WHM (Me being 1 SMN/WHM) and with the 2 SMN's using Ramuh and Thunder 2 every fight along with light curing thanks to the 3 binkers passing hate we CONSISTENTLY hit Chain 5. Mages ran out of MP by then so it all worked out great and we got close to 5K an hour.

It drives me insane that people seem to think that all Summoners can do is fill the space of a WHM. My main is WHM and I sure as hell don't wanna do the same goddamn job on my sub!

I've been stuck as main healer in a party for so long I think I have forgotten how to be a Summoner in a party I remember a while ago I was asked to MB w/ my avatar and I had to try 3 or 4 times before I finally got the timeing right. Sad, I know. This is what happens when you don't let summoners do their job... or I just SUCK.

Once, when I was a lowbie SMN, I had warped and forgotten to change my subjob back to whm before {log off}. Later, I'm LFG and get an invite. I was half way to Crawler's Nest when I realized my "mistake". I quickly sent a /tell to the party leader & was about to turn my Choco around when the leader responded, "No, we want you as smn/blm please."
I had so much fun. At one point, I was able to time it so I could MB w/ a weenie blm spell and the BP.

Please note that I was generalizing the situation. When I invite Smns to my partys, I usually get asked if they should Main Heal or not. My responce is always the same.

"Do what you feel is best. I want you to have fun." And that's that. If a Smn is not allowed to enjoy themself, they should not be invited. I never make anyone do anything that they don't want to (Except dealing with a Drg in parties. It's either party up or wait in that situation >.>).

Smns role is as they choose it to be. They can summon, they can heal (As needed), they can protect the party, and they can make things so much more fun. That's their job. Their job is to do what they want, as it is needed. *nodnod*

More often than not I show up and no WHM's or RDM's are in the group so I have to main heal and if I don't put "Healing magic OK" in my search comment I never get an invite even though I and almost every other SMN I know despise doing that

With a Ninja tank this isn't that big of a problem as long as they build hate with spells and keep shadows up because in that situation my puny Cure spells work out. Hell, sometimes I can even summon and throw out an Avatar and have it use a spell and melee for a bit.

Problem is if we have a WAR/Monk or Paladin tank and I have to do heavy curing I'm spamming spells which causes hate control issues.

Worst of all is when I'm stuck on main healing and the party insists that I don't use Avatars because it means downtime. As WHM this isn't a problem because I have a library of spells at my disposal and I can throw them out to buff my party if I get bored enough (Barwatera, anyone?) but on SMN I don't have that option since my spell library is limited.

Oh... they don't like Blinkga? Stoneskinga? Ice Spikega? /comfort.

The only way I know to avoid downtime is to have a RDM and a BRD/WHM as the only mages. I presume that any party member at my level knows best how he or she can keep downtime to a minimum. Personally I think Bloodpact defenses reduce downtime. But I'm SMN 9 so what do I know?

Gotta love Blinkga and Stoneskinga Ice Spikesga and Enthunderga are a bit pointless if you compare to a RDM of that level the BP enchantment is about half the damage output of what a RDM gets from their spells but hey, it all builds up right? I'd rather have Blink, Stoneskin and Haste though

When I leveled summoner, I did not get an invite unless there were no white mages or red mages my level seeking... or at least the party had one of those "make me main heal and I'm out of here" red mages. Unless I agreed to be the main healer, I'd never get a party.

But, while it irked me a little, I'd rather get to 75 sooner by doing something I'd prefer not to do, than play the way I wanted and never get a party.

The good thing is, sometimes as people quit the party and we got replacements, I got to use my avatars more often if the newcomers were willing to heal.

Soloing bombs and snolls, xp scroll quests, and enms were a great help too
