My SkyLS fought Genbu again. I managed to get killed with 2 hits. PLD71 was NOT meant to tank Genbu, much to my anguish. However, I got the Abj for my first piece of Koenig tonite! ^^

My ls prefers to use Nin tanks. We dont use Pld's much at all but I have heard of other HNM ls's using Pld's to have them jump in and use Spirit's Within after they build up 300% TP and letting it rip on the mob for good dmg. ^^

We use PLD's on some God fights, nin on other.

Depending on god if we straight tank it or kite.
There are some mobs that just can't be tanked by a nin.
Faust for example would rip a ninja to pieces even if you have 3+ whm spam cures on him.

71 is a tad low to tank him yes,
but you will grow and learn, and after a while Genbu is nothing more then a regular exp mob taken by 18 people ;)

Eh, I don't really tank him at all. We've got a couple NIN75s for that...much to my chagrin at times, but ehh...yeah, last night he smacked me once for 568, additional effect for 150ish, and hit again for 545 or so.....instant dead PLD kitty... <.<;;;

Other than that, it's all gravy, I usually just either attempt to hurt him via Berserk and DD gear (doesn't work too good at my level either ><; ) or sleep to TP for Spirits Within....which means I stay asleep for 3/4 of the fight, which makes me feel about useless. <.<;;;

Quested my sexy Powerful Rope yesterday, which is great. Love that extra 20 mp for my convert ratio

Went on Carmine Dobsonfly run with linkshells, which was fun 8)

Lvl'd BLM to 36 with static which was fun and great. :)

Breezed thru Windy Missions 7-1 and 7-2 for Rank 8 which is fantastic! :D

Now I'm just waiting for Windy to claim #1 again and I'll be exstatic :D :D

actually... i gave up on RDM after the 7th try...it was just never going to happen. And i aready had WAR to level 62... so i got the last 8 leveles. ;)

Warrior G5 was a blast. went in, Pendragon Axe is mine, but my nin75 war73 rng75 friend loaned me his haubergon bomb core, anky bracelets, and sniper's rings.

used a full stack of sleep potions to get to 300% Tp. Walked up, whacked maat, hit aggressor, berserk, whacked him once more, mighty strikes, warcry, Raging Rush!

The first Raging rush hit for 1974 damage.

I was stunned. I literally forgot about the icarus wing for a second. I popped the Icarus Wing, and hit Raging Rush again.. 883 damage. And then... it was over...

didn't even need the skillchain.

Dooom and I made level 25 today. Dooom went up in theif and I became better as a warrior. Both of us are enjoying our new abilities. The funny thing is we were suppose to be skilling up. Skilling up was the thing we did the least.

This weekend I had quite some adventures,

I had a little go at this little fella. (Yes I'm right next to him)

Image

Didn't last long got about 1k dmg on him until his summons beat me down.
Ah well it was a first try and we had loads of fun, at least we know how to do him next time we try it.

We did have a nice go with this little Fella,
Image

it was my first Kirin ever and yes he is fun to do :)

DRG/SAM was impossible to gauge now it's pointless. No more penta spam, only 60% TP off meditate which isn't enough to solo a WS and keep up with your SC buddy, an extra 1% TP from every hit. Compared to /WAR where you get Double Attack and harder hits it just doesn't cut the mustard.
DRG/THF is useful for when your SC partner doesn't have SATA otherwise it pales in comparison to /WAR. Wow you double Wheeling Thrust but you miss out on Double Attack and again hit for a fair bit less. Don't get caught up on one number like most silly people do, combined with wyvern you have one of the best (if not the best) DoT in the game.
DRG/WAR is your bread and butter of Dragooning hehe, at 70 you get Warcry and you should alternate that with Berserk so you always have one on when you WS (don't forget to voke first). Remember Double Attack works on Jumps and WSs aswell as criticals, that's where the big money is at.
DRG/BLM just why? Your Dark Magic is only half of what it should be at your level, even on EMs your Drains and Aspirs will still be resisted a fair bit. Stick to WHM or RDM for solo sub.

/Blm for the larger mp pool and warp. Also because I can't stand to play through the other two classes higher then I already have them.

I love /war. Double Attack activating during a Jump just makes me smile. All of the sudden, this one free attack I get becomes two. Then I do High Jump. All of the sudden, I get a 36%tp boost.

/war is {Impossible to Gauge!}, but people may want me as /Sam for Meditate, switch into an alliance, Ws, switch out. /Thf incase, for some reason, the pt needs it. I'd rather have those jobs over and done with now instead of stopping Drg later.

Also, seeing as my Healing Breaths go off for 5 mp, even if my Aspir gets 50% resisted or so, that's a pretty large mp boost, even if I only get 20 mp or so.

Oh, and Gobby Bag 3 and 4, {Found it!} Also lvl 52 Drg.
In the end, I'm just talking out of my ass. So take it all with a grain of salt.

I tend to disagree as well with Sugami about the /blm and /sam being useless.
Yes, if the were using it in exp I would personally boot them for gimping a party, but on a larger scale you will see a difference and especially in endgame activities.

/blm is very useful for the reason Eviticus states here.
As far as I read on several drg topics on several FFXI boards /whm /rdm and /blm all have their ups and downs but in the end all are just as useful as one another.

Then again /sam is commonly used in my HNM and Dynamis shells by several melee classes, not just drg.
In HNM scenes where you fight things that require more then an 18 people alliance you switch players back and forth into the alliance for skillchains.
In Dynamis it's pretty good to have a quick TP gain for making quick work of that NM that grants you that one needed time extention.
So I would say yes a lot of melee/sam make it worthwhile in a lot of endgame activities.

In my eyes Eviticus is very deticated to the drg job and I'm convinced that he/she'll make a great endgame dragoon.
[/endgamer's rant]

Congrats on the lvl and gobbiebags Eviticus!

Never used DRG in sky or dynamis as I've never been there, I still think /BLM is pointless. If you really hate WHM like I did level RDM but can always get a warp scroll or carry around a cudgel (or 2). Heck last time I tried playing around with a mage sub must have been at 71 and /BLM only had about 7 more MP than /RDM.
Like I said Meditate only gives 60% when subbed so where are you getting the other 40%? If you find you're solo-ing WSs in a party then /SAM is acceptable but I think I'd still prefer /WAR anyways.

Also I didn't think a double attack boosts TP on Jumps and WSs?
