If people didn't care, we wouldn't be donating shitloads of cash down to N'awlins like we are.

I think it's a terrible thing myself, but I'm also enough of an asshole to joke about both this and 9/11, to be honest.

Well....it's kinda like this: Yes, it is very tragic, and I wouldn't wish that to happen to *anyone*.

On the other hand, the world is filled with all these disasters, wars and cruelties which might, or might not be as bad as that hurricane even though the newsstations like to lift only one at a time on a pedestal - the one that gets them most viewers.

Plus, of course we all have our own personal issues, agendas and even duties, which much be dealt with regardless of what's happening in the 'outside world'. Hopefully I'm not sounding too harsh, but I'm just trying to say that we simply can't stop living our own lives because something bad happens to someone somewhere...something bad happens all the time! Charity is good, I donate when I have the extra money to do so (which is not often, as I am a student) and I do feel bad for people who have to endure in really bad situations.

You aint the only one. Give it a month and alot of ppl will joke bout it no doubt. To answer your question Yugi I honestly think most ppl my age dont give a dam sadly  I care a lil and I'm gonna offer money at my school's collection spot for it tomorrow. Just for peace for myself you know. One big question my friends got into a discussing bout is do ppl like Bill Gates offer anything? :?:

Not exactly: I don't know who deserves to die or who doesn't. I won't say anything to one way or the other because I believe no man has the right to decide. No, I don't believe in god, but I just think it's not something we can decide if you catch my meaning. :?

Some would argue the difference between guilt and innosence is a matter of timing...

However the losses involved in the hurricane are sad, there are many factors that played into the amount of losses. Therefore I will not make any judgements here in to avoid a flame war. May the ones who lost their lives rest in peace and many thanks to those who donated their time, money and efforts in helping with the survivors.

Yukira has a point. I believe in fate. It really helps bring me piece of mind and not wonder on if and buts. I always say if you dont believe in God I can respect that b/c I just think your a person not willing to accept a statement or common act just b/c others do and I love ppl like that. I tell them just at least live your life in a good way.

Now for your statement Yugi I hope your just kidding bout not fearing death. I have only known ppl who are like that wish it upon theirselves b/c they have ruined their life to the point that they see it as an escape.

I dont want to piss you off Yugi but IMO I think you do fear dying b/c its only natural for you in a serious situation that might result in you dying. You freak out and scream, etc. In end no one can say what they will do or say when the time comes.

Geez.. I'm the guy who comes up with twisted and creative ways of committing suicide. Not that I'd ever do any of them, but they're definitely something that helps me when I'm feeling depressed.

EXAMPLE: To make minimal mess killing yourself with a handgun, use a small caliber (9mm or .22 probably), stick your head in a bucket (preferrably a sturdy one), and fire at the back of your head. With luck, the mess will all be contained in said bucket.

PS. Yugi, get on FFXI now.

I thought you spell it christian? Too bad bout seeing alot of death. Idk I wouldnt mind dying in my sleep but I have always had that scence in FF8 stick w/me when Squall talks bout not dying and having ppl just simply talk bout you and thats it.

If I chose my way of death I'd like to go saving ppl no doubt bout b/c no matter how much time goes by. Those ppl who I gave my life for will talk bout me in a nice way I'd like to think saying He gave me a second chance and I hope you grow into someone like him.

I know its kinda korny and off topic but like Freya said in FF9. To be forgotten is worst than death.

Screw MSN messenger. Get GAIM. It's AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and more in one easy(ish) to use program.

Get it here: http://gaim.sourceforge.net

Find the Gaim For Windows link and use that.

:?: I'm surprised JediKitsune hasn't mentioned it yet, but Yugi is trying to pull the wool over our eyes again. See thread: Of Japanese Schoolgirls and Anti-American Males I highly doubt Yugi is both a Lesbian and a Christian. Don't take this the wrong way, Yugi. I'm not picking a fight with you and I don't mind you posting on this messageboard again, but continuing to try to mislead others in some bizarre charade... asking others for their Instant Messaging information and sweet-talking them... it looks as if you are soliciting people for some nefarious reason... and that can be a punishable offense. For your own sake at least don't try to pass yourself off as a Lesbian at least.

People also often mistake my gender simply because I am a naturally optimistic person. For the record I am male. However, I used to role-play female roles a lot in those online role-playing MUSHes that I joined and I was hit on over and over back when I was playing Phantasy Star Online. It actually taught me to respect women gamers more because there's really too much rampant amounts of Sexual Harassment on the internet. But always for me there was a clear dividing line between my role-played character and the real me, if people asked me what gender I was in real life I would always answer truthfully. If you want to role-play fine, we have a RP board here even. But when you are talking Out Of Character: OOC as these boards should be, please be your real self. People think more highly of you when you tell the truth rather when you lie and mislead them.

I wondered if anyone else had caught onto that.

And for the record, it's hardly a case of not caring. I'm extremely saddened by the fact that it happened. But they made stupid mistakes. Flood walls weren't strong enough, 3/4 of the pumps to keep the city from staying flooded weren't working, they told people ahead of time to get the hell out even, but they didn't listen. They tried to bring in water by helicopter and people would rush in try to basically mug the people bringing water so bad that they started dropping the water from 10 feet up instead, causing part of it to burst upon impact instead. And you want me to feel sorry and sad and depressed for'em? I've got my own issues to deal with, and attempting to change fate and their decisions ain't on my list. -_- There's a saying I keep in my AIM profile, because it's how I look at life.

"Our Destiny is controlled by three things. Fate, Luck, and Decision. Fate gives us a set path of options. Luck determines the width of the paths. We decide which one to take."

Kintrra's right. We could sit around all day moping because of what happened, or instead, we could do something about it, be it donating money, or looking at how happened. You don't have to spend 24/7 thinking about it. In fact, spending all your time on this at the expense of your own life would be totally counter-productive. Do your little bit, and move on.

This will quite possibly be the coldest most heartless post you will ever see from me.

As a disclaimer, This post is not directed at those who had no reasonable means to get out. to those who died due to circumstances beyond their control my sincerest condolences go out for those people.

However to the Moron's who decided to stay in a city, below sea level with a Cat 5/4 Hurricane heading toward them. When they knew from a study done in 2003 that the Levy's could not withstand greater then a Cat 3, and when a Mandatory evacuation was given. Thank you for removing yourself from the gene pool, we will not miss you.

Again this is only directed at a very small group.
