FFVIII Would be my favorite
7 was good, I enjoyed the materia system and the overall gameplay was excellent. But i enjoyed the junction system of 8 more.
10 runs a close second mostly due to Blitzball, this was the first Final Fantasy I actually invested serious time into its minigame not simply to get what I needed from it. I loved my level 99 Blitzball team.. now while I also loved the voices added in, the immersiveness was really nice, I hated the sphere system. I just simply did not like it at all.

Eh . . . I liked the other Final Fantasy games a lot . . . I would have to say that FFIII/VI, FFIV, FFVII and FFVIII would have to be tied for my favorite. However . . . Xenogears was a much better RPG than all of them in my opinion.

My favorite FF game has to be a tie between FF6/7.
I loved the fact that the entire story line changed along with the world in FF6.
FF7, on the otherhand, was awesome due to the Materia system, which in itself was a minigame, and also. Who could forget this is the only FF game where a main character dies.NO SPOILERS FOR YOU!
Although i really dislike what SE did to both Cloud and Sephiroth... they don't have fucking wings!.. and Sephiroth isn't that good!

My fav would have to be FFIV (FFII in America) with Cecil and Kain. I played the origina; FF when it came out with my best friend at the time. Then staying over the summer once at my grandmother's house, my uncle had a SNES and had bought FFII. He ended up going to basic training and insisted if I got bored while he was away and grandma was busy to try it. So I did. I was hooked. Loved it, best FF ever played, next to FFVII my other fav.

Actually, there are main characters who die in FFIV (FFII US) and FFV (not released in the US)Fiye wrote:Who could forget this is the only FF game where a main character dies.NO SPOILERS FOR YOU!
It's just not done in such a "You must feel sad and cry now!" way.

I would have to say that the first FF was my fav, it was sooo much fun to play that i still plug in my NES on some occasions to play it. ^^ Aside from that would have to be FFT advance, just because its the only FF on a handheld that I dont think is a blasphemy to the name of FF, and i've put so much time into it. :p

acualy its the only FF on a handheld......that is acualy an FF game lol, the others where just other games renamed for the US market -.-
FF legends1, 2, 3 are Sage (think Saga fronteir)
and FF adventure was really Secret of Mana (the SNES SOM was acualy SOM2)
:p
Cecil-FFIV: I'm just a knight with no courage to disobey his Majesty.....
Kain-FFIV: I am aware of my actions, but can do nothing about them.....

all of them, cept FFx-2 because i suck at it.
FF2 had 6 characters die
3 of them ex-party members
one a brother to an ex-party member
and one was the father of the girlfriend of the brother of an ex party member
and one was a famous engineer and pilot
beat that for important character death
Kashuan's prince was a friend of mine...

Tidus wasn't technically alive throughout the entire game...Tivia wrote:You are forgetting, FFX has main characters that die as well.
Also: I've only played through FF6 (Almost done with that one) FF7, FF8 (To the second disk), FF9, FF10, and right now i just started FF4 JP (English translated) version.
While one could argue the technacalities of both Tidus and Auron being alive throughout the game, they were until nearly the end of the game living breathing characters you developed as far as you were concerned and they did Die.Fiye wrote:Tidus wasn't technically alive throughout the entire game...Tivia wrote:You are forgetting, FFX has main characters that die as well.

Well, the Kanji for the game is: 聖剣伝説, which seems to translate to something like, "Legend of the Saintly Sword", which I assume is the Mana Sword in the games.Tinacat wrote:The SoM series was called "Seiken Densetsu", maybe that translates to Secret of Mana, idkFF adventure was really Secret of Mana (the SNES SOM was acualy SOM2)
It's a close call between V and X. I spent pretty all of Summer 2002 on three things: going to gigs, watching the soccer world cup, and playing FFV. FFX, though, I found really absorbing. Whereas V seemed more a very entertaining way to kill time, X was utterly absorbing. I loved the grid system, Blitzball was awesome, and there was always a new challenge to work towards.
