Why it shares a key with 3 i don't know. But if you look at the word parts the word octo means eight and, in a medical way, troph means to nourish (ex: autotroph). So, since the symbol # has eight points coming off it I'd say it's safe say that that symbol nourishes 8 points, therefore it's an octotroph.

Well, when it comes to urine under a black light, most types of urine should glow. This would include dogs, mice, humans and even Galka. In fact any fluids with a high protein content should glow with the aid of a black light. This is because ultra-violet rays are on the same wavelength as some of the biological materials found in such things as urine. In one of my microbiology classes I used a black light to detect if certain types of bacteria where able to metabolize certain compounds.
